Environmentalist. Plant eater. Anti-capitalism. I like to draw and take photos. I have a social conscience. 💚
'You simply can't rely on humans, Bert. They will always let you down. 🤔
Cyril and his other half eating there fill in our little back garden. 🤓
The scented aroma of this stunning flower captures my attention every time I leave or enter our abode. 😁
The new allotmenteers in plot 1 has caused a bit of a stir. It has provoked discussion amongst the other plotter's as to it demonstrating gravitas to the serious art of vegetable growing. I rather like, don't you?
Forget -me-nots, growing wild and free, cheered mi up as I ambled past them on mi way to Aldi. 😁
Tis nice to stroll. Jubilee tower in the distance. Heather in the foreground. Outskirts of 'uddersfield. 😎
In our little council back garden we have a wonderful Japanese Crab Apple Tree - Malus Floribunda. Yesterday its flowers looked so pretty against a backdrop of a clear blue sky. Oh, isn't life wonderful when the sun shines. 🌞
'twas a pleasant and sunny day in 'uddersfield yesterday. The cool wind, however, dampened my enthusiasm to sit reading outside. Oh, retirement is a wonderful thing! 😁The highlight of my day had to be seeing Jupiter in the early evening sky to the left of a waxing crescent moon. Pure joy! 😊👍
A happy St George's Day to one and all. Please note I'm no flag waving right winger, but a left wing, environmentalist, plant eater, with a social conscience, who is extremely proud, and grateful to have been born in old Blighty. 😊
Longwood Edge. On the outskirts of Huddersfield, offering a fantastic vista on a breezy Wednesday afternoon. @groomb.bsky.social 🤓
I bought a new houseplant today. Oh I do like looking after them. I like the unusual ones. The plant is called the common asparagus plant, sounds more like a vegetable to me, so I prefer the nicer sounding lace fern or asparagus grass. There is plenty of edges to this plant. #Edges 😊
I've really enjoyed reading this book. Hannah has moved me from the 'We're doomed Captain Mannering, I say, we're doomed' mind set, to one with a lot more hope in it. Her argument is supported by facts and legitimate figures. I like that. 👍😊
Tis 6.30am in the suburbs of 'uddersfield, and I'm listening to the wonderful dawn chorus. Then the jarring noise of a human, starting their selfish, noisy machine, ends my enjoyment. Pls click to listen to how the world should sound. 😊
A recent, and now regular visit to our garden, is a jay. Yep, a chuffin' jay, and I'm tickled pink. This morning Jonathan. Yep, named it. 😁Tried, his best to get food from an inappropriate bird feeder. It was in an out quicker than an American F 35 stealth fighter jet. #birds 🦉😊
It's 7.00 am in Huddersfield. It's raining. No surprise there then. My phone informs me that it feels like 1 degrees on the other side of our front door. I will stay inside. But oh, Wednesday gone, how different life was. The sun shone, cherry blossom appeared and said hello to me in our garden. 😊
Yesterday. 8.00 pm. I stepped outside from my warm abode into the chill of the night air. The moon played games with me behind grey clouds. I pondered on what the idiot across the pond was doing. History will be his judge. I went back inside into my safe world. 🤔
A couple of weeks back, we were in Colwyn Bay. I took this shot of the town's very small pier. There is something about this image that provokes an inner feeling in me. 🤔 The town, may be struggling like many, but we both found it a pleasure to visit. 😊
And oh, Llandudno, itself. Have you ever seen such an impressive backdrop to the main street of any town in the UK? And what a clean and lovely town Llandudno is. A return visit is definitely on the cards. 👍😊
The 'Grand Hotel' at the start of the pier was a very impressive sight. Such an unusual design. In my view it could easily have fitted into the French landscape.
Last weekend we visited Colwyn Bay and Llandudno. Though the weather could have been better we had a smashing time. We thoroughly enjoyed a walk along the pier hovering above the Irish Sea.
By eck, today was a miserable, wet day, here in West Yorkshire. I stayed put indoors but my little feathered friends had no choice but to brave the weather and leave their protective, cosy hedges and seek food. Pls click to 🦻 Sithee later. 😊
'tis always a pleasure for the crazy gang to call for their breakfast. #birds 😊
After his little 'hissy fit', Cyril soon found his way to the bench and was soon chewing away. God bless, Cyril and all the little wild creatures out there. 😊
Having made the effort to brave the cold morning air and place peanuts on the south-facing, fence, feeding bench, Cyril showed frustration and wandered off in a huff. His actions allowed for a lovely coal tit to take the opportunity and grab a nut. They only live 2 to 3 years. Bless 'em. 🦉#birds
At 9.00am this morning, as I looked out of the kitchen window into the back garden, Cyril, from on top of the shed, sat staring at me. He was basically demanding his breakfast. Impatient with my response he dangled over the shed and started to eat from a birdfeeder. Such a show off. 🐿️
t's nice to have friends who regularly pop by. Pls click to 👂Ta. 'Ave a smashing weekend. ☺️
Bye eck, it's bloody freezing outside this morning. So, have a thought for all the wildlife out there that might be thirsty. During this cold snap I'm putting water out daily. Can you spot the house sparrow taking a drink? Camouflage essential for survival for these lovely but defenseless birds. 🦉
I was browsing in a shop in 'uddersfield t'other day and noticed a bag for sale. The writing on it made mi chuckle. Born and bred - and still living - in said town, I understood the sentiment. 🤣
