Gaurelin is writing #TheSixDomains
@gaurelin
AuDHD, queer, polyam, demi (he/him). Pantheist, discordian; Futurist, IDIC. Level 54. TTRPG GM & gaming historian: Daggerheart, PF2, AGE & more; Worldbuilding, Tolkien, Star Trek/Wars/Gate, comics, anime, video games (PS5) & general SF/Fantasy geekery!
Fun TTRPG aside: how do you organize your dice collection? Much as it horrifies some, as you can see, I don't. They all reside together, free range & among their own kind, in the current iteration of the jar of dice we refer to as Jarro (the IV). Those in active use are in my dice bag. Game On! 🧙🏼♂️
I submitted an Adversary to Fear Fest on Heart of Daggers & my creepy little Eyebiter received an Honorable Mention! Here it is for your use! Below find the link to the full event page. Congrats to the winners, other HMs & everyone who submitted to the event! ⬇️ heartofdaggers.com/homebrew/adv...
Name a TV show you're positive no one remembers but you:
#TheSixDomains is an arcanepunk setting my tables have built collaboratively for 10+ years, & Daggerheart is the perfect fit for it! I'm writing the final draft of the text & custom mechanics for the setting, such as the Canopy Strider, a tree-dwelling horse! HoD link below & Game On!🧙♂️ #WIPWednesday
Skyline cleanse. My feline companion Simon doesn't like to be far from me (but doesn't much like being on me) for longer than necessary. He's recently taken to napping on the knapsack I keep nearby. 😻
As #TheSixDomains continues to develop, I of course continue to write stat blocks to fill gaps where I see them. To this end, here's my Daggerheart take on a fantasy standard, the wyvern! heartofdaggers.com/homebrew/adv...
While work on #TheSixDomains continues, I also have games to keep prepping, which sometimes require unique stat blocks. To this end, I present a traversal environment, the Volcanic Slope. I expect my Sunday players to begin toiling up it tomorrow evening! Game On! heartofdaggers.com/homebrew/env...
Over in #TheSixDomains, work continues. Sometimes, it's a straight uphill progression & other times, less so. In order to spread Pegsai, Hippogryphs & Gryphons across the Tiers evenly, I bumped the gryphons up a Tier. Here's my revised version. I plan to playtest them in the Sunday game very soon!
A happy Mother's Day to all to whom it is applicable, but especially to @wingchick49.bsky.social (who I will still of course call later as well)! I hope that you all have a great day, and I love you, Mom! 💜
My work generating Daggerheart stat blocks and other mechanical elements for #TheSixDomains continues. Here's another example of my half dozen funky fantasy horses, the desert adapted and very speedy Sunstar Courser!
Daggerheart stats for the first of my five funky equines, the Cinderhoof Charger! #TheSxDomains will include the descriptions and mechanics of five different equine variants, in total, including the fungal-based Mycelial Steed and the arboreal Canopy Strider!
I'm looking forward to Daggerheart tonight! We left out heroes embroiled in a struggle with some gnolls (a creature type heretofore unknown in #TheSixDomains) as they trek through jungle and foothills toward the Dire Reach, a massive, smoking volcano, and the next stage of their quest!
Timeline cleanse: My son Simon sleeping so soundly that he's snoring. 😻
Hehe. I'll talk your ear off if you give me the chance... 😅
Once again, we March Fourth into our one semi-organized #TTRPG holiday, International GMs Day! Share some joy, and give some love to the folks that pour their time, energy, and sweat into building worlds and treasured memories!
Talking to folks in the walled garden can often feel like this:
FWIW, this is what squirrels look like in #TheSix... 🐿️
Gaming history and wolves (cordial blueberries not pictured). A pleasant holiday was had. 🎅
Hoping for the happiest of holidays to those who celebrate, and a truly splendid Thursday to anyone who does not!
Am I, in fact, 53-year-old adult? Yup. Do I or have I ever had any children? Nope. Do I nonetheless leave milk and cookies out for Santa every Christmas Eve? You betcha. Technically a homemade brownie this year, but the point stands. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to those who celebrate.
'Voices of a Distant Star' will never fail to touch me deeply.
