California #BloomScrolling , Aphyllon californicum (parasitic Orobancheae) on coastal headland. Seemed to be parasitizing Seaside Daisy (Erigeron glaucus).
Found a lots of twin-sailed Salp (sea squirt) washed up on beaches around mendocino this past week. Only had some vague clue what they might be as I half remembered this thread. Read the thread for their totally crazy life cycle.

Spotted a White-lined Sphinx in our garden a few years ago. Ever since then I sprint for my camera when anything with a flight style vaguely similar to it enters our garden, sadly never seen one again this close to home.
Spent afternoon with kids watching baby #birds out and about. 10 year-old started humming Jurassic park wonder music every time we saw a new baby.

Sharp eyed kids spotted a musk rat this afternoon. They also spotted a yellow headed blackbird. They agreed to a birdwatching trip in exchange for smoothies, which is really just a win win for me.
