Setting the scene. Data centers are a legit wedge issue that unites everyone and wouldn't you know there's a poll for that and "do you feel heard by your elected officials?" You see the weave I'm weaving? People don't feel heard about this big thing and we should advocate for community power.

Setting the stage that hyperscale data centers are an environmental threat and dominated by NDAs. Concentration of heavy industry and data centers are usually in historically and systemically disadvantaged communities (read Black neighborhoods) and in Louisiana the result of this has been the creation of cancer alley.

Quotes from real people impacted by data centers about how they felt voiceless, a lawsuit about the NDA in Shreveport, and how the NDA obscured public comment and notice in Shreveport. Also an investigation in Virginia how the hum/ buzz from the data center is impacting not only people but animals. Think about it, if we kill the bees, there won't be any more produce to worry about parasite contamination.

Update 🫠 they ruled the data center resolution out of order because 🤷🏽‍♀️ I asked for specific issues/ concerns from the staffer who never got back to me. My assumption this time since I didn't advocate for a moratorium is because I talked about the NDAs that steal the opportunity of community input.

11pm email saying the data center resolution won't be included in the packet.

In reflection I think there's about 400k billable hours across all trades on this renovation that I have to keep track of for reporting (I think I heavily downplay how busy I am). Not the point. The point being, this is the behind the scenes shenanigans built to waste your time. I don't have much to waste and simply asked for specifics so I could prepare for a meaningful conversation. If it was a question of intent I would have sent the news articles but no policy position was advocated for other than putting people first.

Louisiana had 17.26% turnout based on unofficial results: 196,190 Democratic + 316,538 Republican= 512,728 closed primary votes. Jamie Davis votes: 163,549 (May) vs 156,776 (June). FWIW less than 5% drop between primary & runoff is impressive. Letlow votes: 179,903 (May) vs 179,971 (June).
