My morning glories are beginning to bloom! Early Call and Carnivale de Venezia are showing right now. Looking forward to my Moonflowers popping in about a month! #gardening #flowers #morningglory #containergardening
Someone had a rough night last night, and needed to rest until way past sunrise to have the energy to fly away. #bumblebee #insects #nature
When I say Rosie is the BEST kitty, I mean it. This lady looked like this before I started vacuuming until I finished. She never flinched. I even bumped her chair! Afterwards, she got up, went to her bowl, took her medicine like a champ, ate, then waited for me to sit down, and curled up on my lap.🥰
A month from now, I will have completely lost control of my balcony. The morning glories will frame the door and explode with flowers. The salvias will be 3’ tall, providing me with my secret garden, within which I read, and listen to the world around me. #garden #nature #balconygarden
We’ve had storms off and on today, so Hummie is super-busy between downpours. She’s had 3 clutches already this summer, so I’m sure she’s very hungry! #hummingbird #nature
This Tutu Morning Glory bloomed early from a seed sown by Tutus I planted in my pots last year. It’s a prolific bloomer, blooms all summer long, and every flower looks different. I highly recommend it!
This has been the best medicine for my knee injury. Hopefully, your knee heals quickly!
Happy Father’s Day to my dad! I agree, he’s adorable. He’s also a good, good person. He’s kind, sweet, generous, and an all around great guy. Not one person has a bad thing to say about him. Deaf his entire life, he has always been a great provider, and an even better friend! ❤️🤟 I love you, Dad!
Following your dad, because I know what it’s like when you’re buddies with your dad. We were at the cemetery, honoring Mom with her favorite White Zin for Mother’s Day. Dads are awesome! Happy Father’s Day!
This kitty. I injured my knee at work on Wednesday (my first day!)😭 Every time I sit down and ice my knee, Rosie jumps up and shows me how to really relax. Purring and everything. Pets, man. They know. They are the best medicine. #cats #pets #healingmedicine
It’s that time of year again, my friends! If you’re in the Chicagoland area, why not take a day trip out to Oswego? Do some thrift shopping at the barn sale, then have lunch at a local establishment. ALL donations save lives! The BEST pet rescue! I’d appreciate a share! ❤️🤟
Every year, I plant flowers in the pots in the courtyard. This year, I have been frustrated by squirrels digging them up daily. I read that plastic forks might deter this behavior. I tried it last night, and today only one plant was dislodged! Hopefully, this will continue to work!
Please enjoy this incredibly beautiful walk in the woods with me. So close to home, yet it stole my breath. Watch , listen, and breathe, my friends.
Check out this ocean of wild geraniums I found in my local forest preserve. They went on and on…!
While walking around the condo property today, I discovered that we have an American Tulip Tree! Over 20 years, I never noticed it. One of the largest native trees to North America!
A/C is not working. Rosie is not amused by the 83 degrees, with 63% humidity indoors.
Pulling garlic mustard today, I found this stunning Jack in the pulpit, and what I think is Illinois Greenbriers. The Jack was at least a foot tall, with its leaves being 6 inches long. The greenbrier didn’t have any thorns, which is why I think it’s the Illinois variety.
Virginia Waterleaf and Blue Phlox while in my local forest preserve today. I didn’t have to take a roadtrip to enjoy the beauty. Get out there, my friends!
Saw some great mushrooms while volunteering today! Golden Oyster, and, I think, Dryad’s Saddle. #mushrooms #fungus
I was gone for several hours today, and when I came home, I could hear Rosie meowling right inside the door. I opened the door to find her sitting with her back to the door, facing the living room. She was happy to see me. At 15 years old, I think dementia might be setting in. I’m here, Rosie.
More great flora. Jack in the pulpit is a first for me to see in the wild. Sensitive fern. Trillium with a bud color I’ve not seen before. Get out there, my friends!
More spring ephemerals were evident during my volunteer work today. These were all new finds for me today! Eastern shooting star, largeflower bellwort, and a morel mushroom!
Lovely spring ephemerals popping up all over my local forest preserves! Catch them while you can! Prairie trillium, violets, trout lilies, and Dutchman’s breeches pictured. #nature #springephemeral #gardening
