Assistant Professor of Social Psychology (They/Them). Views expressed are strictly my own and not those of my employer.
To be fair, I didn't even go to the graduation. I was busy moving cross-country from Massachusetts to Missouri at the time and looking into something very important, nay, the biggest reason I was able to talk my wife into moving to Missouri:
Full sprint for her being upwards of 15mph; so that was...whatever the opposite of fun is. At least this queen knows what "pacing" is:
this thing of evil also made me sprint today: (she's surprisingly fast)
Behold, the "proven harms," in which the harms listed are purely speculative and unfalsifiable because they are entirely based on value-judgements and vibes with no input from patients or their families:
And to be totally fair, the author of this piece KNOWS this and says as much:
It's actually just fun to write it out and declutter thoughts with, too! Exhibit A:
Without a hint of irony. Also, Matt Gaetz. Mar-a-Lago. Half of Epstein's whole thing. Literally being Florida. Y'know what, here's a compromise. We can fund a federal secret police if they exclusively police Florida statesmen.
Because I'm curious how they'll react when they get to this part of Goblet of Fire:
It gets even worse; fired up the VPN and the burner account and lo and behold, this is what I got.
This is, in sum, not only wrongheaded, but historically illiterate. As late as 2012, people refused to distinguish between effeminate boys and gender dysphoria. This is a literal dissertation from that time arguing that liking the spice girls counted:
One thing that'll never not grind my gears is just how open a secret it is that the EXACT SAME PEOPLE who champion (re-)pathologizing transness say stuff like this in open, with a full throat, and will never face professional reprisal for it because they have rank. Everyone knows, nobody cares.
He has not degenerated into a fascist over time; he was always a fascist. You're just an idiot who didn't see it. The Lefties you're whining about here were right and you were wrong because you had your head up your ass. It's that simple. Say it. Say they were right and you were wrong.
Also, this bit needs to be screamed: they have told you what they will do if you do not stop them. If you don't believe them at this point, I can only hope that they come for you first.
Without a hint of irony. Look at this, right here, and the level of blithe ignorance it implies about what queerness is and how it works. It's obviously the language of corrective rape, all the way down, but the fact that it's been taken seriously by institutions?
And I'm not joking, he uses that language when referring to Venezuela:
Walsh, again, brazenly admits this much in other tweets. It basically amounts to the logic of a grade school bully: "fuck you, got mine" and "I'm bigger than you!" To them, principles don't exist. It's just "can I take a thing I see and want?" and if the answer is yes, do it. (8)
Bluntly, they think that they should be allowed to just go in with force and take whatever they want because international law and having basic standards are for weak cucks who want to arbitrarily nerf the White Man. I mean, Walsh just bluntly says as much here, because why wouldn't he?
Okay y'know what? I'm not done. CBS News is full of it on all five of its alleged values, and I don't even need more than once incident to prove it. It's actually insulting on a very basic, human level. Let's do this 🧵
See, if this shit didn't WORK, then we wouldn't see this happening. Transphobia is a lightning-fast career booster in mainstream, credible journalism, as this story reveals:
One thing that needs to be stressed here is the real reason that every single media organization, platform holder, and most U.S. Universities have had such an easy time glomming on to transphobia is articulated in this story: we just plain don't matter. And y'all cis morons prove it daily (1)
Here's my girls: the mini schnauzer is Daisy; the corgi is Marigold. We also adopted her in August!
Also, another thing that commentators on "masculinity crisis" overlook is...what was it? Oh yes, this. Did gay men stop being men when I last checked? Because if you wanna learn how to handle rejection and still be a man while navigating expectations of masculinity, ask literally any gay dude.
Or did these idiots stop being gay just because they're Black and middle aged?
For that matter, depathologizing being gay was a bitter pill to swallow for many when it happened incrementally through the 70s and 80s; and that effort only happened with aggressive protest as well. I mention this because these folks? They were around for that! They're freakin' old!
Particularly given the blatant double standard this court selectively, and arbitrarily, creates. State-level bans on gender-affirming care, those are A-OK, but state-level bans on conversion therapy, those are unconstitutional because gaslighting isn't electroshocking someone's nuts.
