Gilead
@gileadart
I draw and paint Sword & Sorcery illustrations and signs and animals and birds and nudes and stuff. Here's my Linktree
There was a chair under the model's butt, but I like it better this way. I tried rotating the image, but gravity was pointing things the wrong way so I went back to this.
The ruins at the top of the plateau were already standing before the Broken Lands broke apart. I'm aware of the improbability of this but my fantasy art is often a little unrealistic.
Lots of people are bothered by the nudity in my sketches which bothers me more than it used to. I still have the impulses I used to have, but I wonder how many friends I don't have because my content is offensive. This doesn't need an answer I'm just silently screaming at the enclosing darkness.
We were watching a TV show that had this lovely English bridge in the background for a few seconds. As you'd expect from such idyllic settings, there was a body facedown in the water having been murdered in a cozy fashion. Black marker with white paint built up on top of it.
A method I've been exploring lately is to lay down a lot of black ink with a large brush-tipped marker and then lay white layers on top of that with a paint pen. The two colors mix a bit at first, but dry fast so the white gets brighter with every layer.
Pitt brush-tipped marker in black. A Creative Inspirations white brush-tipped paint pen, and an Acurite fine point black pen.
Happy Saturday from Gilead's Miniature Sword & Sorcery Sketchbook of Doom. I've been wondering if I should stop saying "Doom" since it's kind of not funny when the world is actually burning down.
It's Fanny Friday! The model was walking naked down a railroad track which at my age made me more anxious than aroused. Now she's in a world of magic and monsters where ancient ruins lie just below your feet yawning to swallow you into the hidden lair of spiders and worse. At least she's safe.
It's warm on her planet, but he's from one of the moons (Kath and Ohdray) where people are extremely sun sensitive so he wears long sleeves. First and foremost my art is all about safety.
I don't know if I'll ever have the capacity to go beyond simple sketches anymore. That doesn't mean I think they're bad or I'm putting myself down. It means that at any given time I don't seem to have have enough creative energy to go any further than I can go.
It's Tentacle Tuesday, may your entanglements be multi-limbed and slimy. I mean that in the most benevolent way possible of course.
I'd be lying if I said I was an honest man and that's the truth. This was sketched on location next to the laundromat. Parts of it anyhows.
My main objective with this one was to see how well my white ink pen worked on this toned paper. It worked quite well so we'll call that a success.
I don't know where ideas come from. The dimly lit attic in my brain is piled with dusty cardboard boxes full of scratchy videotapes, comic books and porn-mags.
The medical facilities we're going to are called Sentara, which I miss-heard at first.
If there's an up-side to catastrophically failing in every aspect of your life it has to be that anything at all that you do is an improvement. I don't really have a career to pursue at this point so I'm going to draw whatever appeals at the moment.
We passed this little scene and I had to stop the car to take a picture. There were other people doing the same thing so I said "don't take all the good pictures, I want one!" I do this a lot.
Watercolor feels like the right soft gentle media for making sympathy cards. Plus I have cards and paint so that's what we did. It's a little shallow, but sometimes shallow is appropriate. Certainly my usual skulls and battle axes wouldn't work.
Just a typical lady on her way to church. From Gilead's Miniature Sword & Sorcery Sketchbook of Doom.
Yesterday I posted something sexually explicit. No I didn't say "today" I said "Yesterday". It wasn't flagged, but this one will be. I just find it funny is all. The computers aren't as smart as they think they are.
Sometimes in the evening I just sit and try to draw something from my imagination. It's harder than it used to be, but possibly improving.
