The water level is so low at the moment that you can paddle out to the middle of the river to take a photo.
Sherds! And today we found something a little bit different in the muck... a plastic piggie. Though, I suppose 'in the muck' is exactly where you'd expect to find a piggy. 😊

Each time we visit the Church of St Morwenna and St John the Baptist, we find something we've not seen before. Today, we noticed a little hatch in one of the pew floors, and beneath that we found... concealed shoes!

We travelled down to Morwenstow this afternoon, paid a visit to the Church of St Morwenna and St John the Baptist, and met some very friendly sheep. As there's been no rain of late, the landscape is all blues and golds at the moment.
Sherds! There's a lot more riverbank at the moment... but not many sherds. It was a relief to find the one on the right (get it... relief). 😂🙄
It's been a while since we last went walkabout, and we picked the perfect day for it... Not boiling hot, with a nice cooling breeze (okay, wind). And Watersmeet has a couple of new bridges (one of them in photo 2). Very smart they are too.
It's been a while since we went for a walk... Even longer since we walked from Woody Bay to Heddon's Mouth and back. With one thing and another, we've been so busy recently. Time to get those feetsies on the move again!
It's hydrangea time... And much pinkness. After cold weather and strong winds, we have a heatwave. I do not do well in the heat, so the downpour that soaked me while I was gardening was very welcome.
When we found the top sherd, hubs cried out (with much glee) 'Grapes... boobies! Grapes and boobies!'' It doesn't take much to please him really. 😂
After the past few days of roasty weather, the garden is enjoying a nice cool evening.
A new bloom on the Julia Child that opened out this morning. Just look at that wonderful, deep yellow/orange colour. Perfect against the deep green of the leaves.
Rusty Chicken is keeping an eye on things while we're indoors. The garden is in safe hands.
First of the ninebark flowers to open. The last photo is one of my two favourite roses: Julia Child.
Dramatic effect... on account of the contrast between bright sunlight and deep shade at the back of the garden. Accidental, but lovely.
We went out there early today to avoid the heat, but it was already very warm and bright. The sparrows were happy. We have a lot of parents and babies at the moment... Lots of open mouths and cheep-cheeps all day long.
It's always lovely to spend time in the garden... Especially with little bee friends who show up wearing their best frilly bloomers.
Little Margo passed away during the night. She had a stroke a little while back and was very poorly for a while. She seemed during the past few days to have turned the corner, and we had hoped to see her running about with her sisters again, but it had all been too much for her gentle soul. ❤️😢

A new arrival and tonight's viewing... Hammer's 'Blood from the Mummy's Tomb' collector's edition. Based on Bram Stoker’s 'The Jewel of Seven Stars'. It comes with a booklet and two posters.
A recent arrival... 'Smith and the Pharaohs and Other Stories' by H. Rider Haggard, published by Arrowsmith in 1920.
