If you read just one (1) piece of Thai lit, this is it, also my fav book ever. I reread it after 2 years. Tragic. Melodramatic. Beautiful. Bleak. Soap-operatic. Frustrating. & bcs of all that, it says a lot about Thai society & politics. + it has 1 of the most hateable characters you'll ever find.
This was good but left me a bit unsatisfied in some chapts. Why did social democracy decline in the US? Delong offers only a vague answer: inflation somehow makes ppl care more about inequality, & that somehow leads them to vote against full employment, redistribution, & a strong welfare state.
This was decent. This is the 2nd time this author published a book calling for big reform right b4/after we completely fail to do so. This called for tax reform in 2017... I would like a tax system w/ as few exemptions, credits, etc as possible, & a VAT. Of course it talks little about prop taxes.

I will live skeet my reactions to this book. Punisher in 2017, a WaPo+PBS correspondent clearly wrote this pre-Trump, believing the next POTUS+Congress would be full of reasonable-ish people capable of overhauling the tax code like we did in 1986 under Reagan or in 1954 under Eisenhower.
It was OK. A quaint look at left liberalism on the eve of the Great Recession & Obama. Thugman was right about policy: we fumbled big time by failing to pass a public option for health insurance. That's the critical missing piece that stopped Obamacare from becoming Medicare for All.
It was OK. Can't say I understood half of it. Def don't read this before you find an accessible history of the housing bubble, financial crisis, & Great Recession. The movie is fun but also not much more illuminating.

I'm looking at "academic" days (or half days if N/A) instead of full days, but here's the spread in my area. We just saw The Learning XP today. It was decent. $1,400/mo for 5 half-days/wk. The Montessori is most expensive but also requires a $1,500 deposit for some reason, like it's an apartment.
