Totally!! Like it's easy to hold up the big splash panels as some of the greatest in manga, since they're so detailed and pretty, but 80% of the time there are little panels where not much is going on, and simple actions become amazing to look at~ But the splash panels are a joy to look at too XD

4 movies I've seen for the first time this year, that "speak" to me. The Trial, Belladonna of Sadness, The Day After, and The Pied Piper. I've only got yall to thank for letting me know me these movies exist, there's so many incredible artistic films out there! #Filmsky

The Trial, a film by Orson Welles, is absurdism at its finest. A beautifully nihilistic exploration of the "justice system," at its most incongruent and inscrutable. Basically, what Ikiru did in its opening moments, for the maddening bureaucracy of Japanese civil works, The Trial spreads out over 2 hours.

Belladonna of Sadness is one of the strangest movies I've ever seen. It tells a relatively simple story about a woman falling pray to Satans charms after experiencing traumas beyond human comprehension. Equal parts minimalist, and maximalist. It defies all expectation, wipes the floor with logic, entrances, excites, horrifies. Nothing about it is subtle, it's the perfect alternative to an acid trip.

SImply Put, The Day After is a wonderful showing of the immediate aftermath of a nuclear war, from the perspective of a small town and its inhabitants. Sometimes you need a wicked unpleasant movie to kick you in the gut and knock the wind out of you. The Day After is simply one of the best horror movies, where the villain is war itself.

The Czechslovokian "The Pied Piper" is a masterpiece of stop-motion animation. Intricate, detailed, artistry in its purest and most mechanical sense. Watching this film is like sticking your head inside of a wooden antique clock, which happens to be full of rats. It does a whole lot, with quite little in the way of narrative. So beautiful~
