AES winning college educated voters and white suburban voters but losing rural voters and black voters is a simile sort of to general elections. dem voters are more likely to answer polls than gop voters, and dem progressives are more likely to than dem moderates
stuff like this really demonstrates how so much of the finance class just can’t except that a bunch of total imbecilic madmen are in charge. the denial goes so deep because to admit that kind of means everything they believe is questionable. i will answer this for free though - he is an idiot.
tariffs and interest rates are destroying all residential construction, meaning no end in sight for rising home and rent prices broadly (at a local level some cities are successfully building)
voters consistently say they trust republicans on corruption more than democrats, so probably not
conspiracy theory that all these companies are pushing AI because they are “tired” of having to “remember stuff their gf/wife told them” and would simply like their phone to do the work for them
earlier this morning we were talking about ramageddon and unfortunately the xbox price raise is our discord channel’s fault
im going to be honest, there is nowhere to go for public opinion on AI but down given how much it is directly causing all this. “just” the tech sector is basically the modern world.
in a classic median voter moment, dem voters says they want the party to become more moderate, while noting that currently it is broadly the right amount of moderate, while also wanting it to be more socialist
just a cost doom loop where nobody buys new suvs/trucks because of price, BUT small cars that are cheaper bomb hard among americans, plus cheap Chinese cars have a bipartisan policy block. china subsidizes its cars to sell them at a loss overseas, so i get the concern, but the end result is this
damn that sucks. anyways did you know that in 2 seconds, at 80mph, your car travels over 230 feet, or about 3/4 the length of a football field?
“the republicans block everything democrats do, which makes me mad at democrats, and also i believe the country needs to burn” is a way more common reason people voted for trump than a lot of americans realize
fwiw, 18-29 year olds show the highest disapproval of AI, the verge has been covering how it’s actually teens and young adults that hate new tech the most, which is an inversion of historical trends. it’s just that teens and young adults also paradoxically use AI the most:
like everyone i knew growing up loved OT star wars and wrath of khan and from russia with love and wizard of oz lol
hotel bookings are extremely low in the US from international travelers, especially given the world cup
