7 years ago today, Afghan-born New Zealander Abdul Aziz Wahabzadah chased a white supremacist gunman with nothing but a handheld credit card machine. At the sentencing, Aziz told the gunman, “You should thanks Allah for I didn't catch you that on day. You never forget these two eyes you run from.”

The world is dark and full of terrors, but it also has cats, mount Ararat, and sometimes the snow falls when the sun is out. This apparent dichotomy reminds me “Angel,” my favorite poem by Alexander Pushkin.

Just finished my first book of the year. - Not the most illuminating book, and at times the author comes off as self-aggrandizing - The two zines in the appendices, especially the one titled "Witchcraft and the Illuminati," are invaluable to my research. Hopefully, I'll publish my findings soon.

I always tell people this sentence by Linda Gordon's "The Second Coming of the KKK" is the best I read in grad school.
