"Embarrassingly ubiquitous." Arizona Republic and @azcentral media columnist. All views are mine, but they should probably be yours, too.
Happy Monday. At the end of last week I wrote about Trump’s election ‘integrity’ speech. At the beginning of this week I’m putting it back out there. Nothing new in the speech, but it sure sounds like a threat. There’s a link to read it in the comments. Have a look!
This week’s Watchlist newsletter. Gearing up for the final. There’s a link in the comments to subscribe!
Always looking for more readers and followers. I write about media, political and otherwise; review movies and TV; sports media; and, oddly, sometimes food. If you want a sample of this, click below. And if you like what you see, a follow is always nice... Thanks! www.azcentral.com/staff/268403...
From today’s paper. Anyone going to see “The Odyssey” this weekend? Might I interest you in a review first? I loved it — the only movie I’ve given 5 stars to this year. If you’re so inclined, there’s a link to my review in the comments.
ICYMI: Trump gave a speech on election ‘integrity’ last night. Using no new findings, it purported to be about how unsafe our voting is. What it *really* seemed designed to do is set the stage for him to meddle in the fall.I wrote about it all; there’s a link to my column in the comments.
ICYMI: I have advice for the anti-woke crowd complaining about 'The Odyssey': SEE THE DAMN MOVIE. If you still don't like it, *then* complain. But it's great. There's a link to my review in the comments. 📸Melinda Sue Gordon/Universal Pictures
Today is National Hot Dog Day. My kind of holiday. A while back I wrote about my favorite hot dog and, oddly enough, the death of my sister, and how some things just feel like home. There’s a link to it in the comments.
The year's half over, and I've finally seen a 5-star movie. I thought "The Odyssey" was great. There's a link to my review in the comments.

Walter Cronkite - yes, that Walter Cronkite - once told me the secret to a functioning democracy. Today is the perfect day to subscribe to my newsletter and see what he said. There’s a link in the comments.
ICYMI: I wrote about how Trump has made the reflecting pool mess a MUCH bigger story than it needs to be. There's a link in the comments to my column. 📸 Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images
I reviewed ‘Supergirl.’ It is … not great. Milly Alcock is, though. Shame about the movie. There’s a link to my review in the comments. 📸 Warner Bros. Entertainment
The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool mess didn’t have to become a huge story. But it is now, because Trump made it one. I wrote about how lies and blame made it grow like, well, algae. There’s a link in the comments to my column. 📸 Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images
Milly Alcock makes a great Supergirl, but "Supergirl" isn't much of a movie. It never ... takes flight. Get it? GET IT? For more quality criticism, there is a link in comments to my review. 📸 Warner Bros. Entertainment
This sounds like a made-up thing. It's not. Ever notice how 78 degrees in your house feels different in summer than in winter? Turns out I'm not crazy. It is different. Sort of. We talk about it in the latest episode of Valley 101. There's a link in the comments. 📸 Patrick Breen/The Republic
Am I a restaurant critic? I am not. But Buc-cee’s isn’t a restaurant, so I went to the new Arizona location and tried some of their more popular food offerings. There’s a link in comments to what I wrote. 📸 Mark Henle/The Republic
One of the true joys of my life is being the father of these knuckleheads. (Note: photo is not current. They’ve changed a bit.) That makes every day a happy Father’s Day.
When simply saying, "We screwed this up and now we are going to fix it" is not an option, evidently.
This was in yesterday's paper. Anyone seen it yet? What did you think? There's a link in the comments if you would like to know what I think. (I thought 3.5/5 stars, though that's probably a bit generous.)
It's Juneteenth, and if you've ever wondered what Arizona was like during the events of June 19th, 1865, our latest episode of Valley 101 looks into it. Give it a listen. There's a link in the comments. 📸 Patrick Breen/The Republic
This was in the paper today. I'd already gotten a lot of responses to the online version. Today's offerings included insults, defense of Trump and kind words about tractor pulls. There's a link in the comments to my column.
The UFC event on the White House lawn starts soon. I wrote about it in this week’s Watchlist newsletter. The perfect time to subscribe! There’s a link in comments where you can do that, and read about Trump, Andrew Jackson and buckets of whiskey on the White House lawn. 📸 USA Today/Getty Images

My review of 'Disclosure Day' was in the paper today. I wanted to believe ... that it would be great. It wasn't, but it is good. Spielberg fun, not Spielberg magic. I'd love for a bunch of people to see it so we can talk about it. There's a link in the comments to my review.
Putting this out there again. Two things: Ever since Paramount caved (to the tune of $16 million) to Trump, everything CBS does is suspect. It just is. Also, Pelley is a reporter. He *should* be speaking truth to power. There's a link to the column in comments.
It's a good weekend for new movies. My reviews for "Backrooms" and "Pressure" were in the paper today. There's a link to both reviews in the comments.

If you write, where do you write? In the same place all the time? Or do you move around? And what do you use for writing? Laptop? What word processing software? It fascinates me. E.B. White in his writing shed seems like the Platonic ideal, especially to someone who lives in the desert.
