Some of the Linaria, grown from seed, have made it to flowerhood! #GardensHour 🌱
Evening all. The garden is looking increasingly frazzled, especially the Phlox which end up all droopy in the heat. I'm watering them occasionally but may have to sacrifice them to eek out the water in the remaining two water butts for the Hydrangea and newly planted cosmos #GardensHour 🌱
In today's #SixOnSaturday... Linaria, baby blackbirds, Phlox, Crocosmia 'Lucifer' & a small Buddleia 🌱 onemanandhisgardentrowel.wordpress.com/2026/07/11/s...
If there are any green fingered Somerset folk on Bluesky, the Somerset Heritage Centre, near Taunton, is putting on a pop-up exhibition on gardening this coming Saturday (11 July) from 10am to 12pm. More info can be found here swheritage.org.uk/events/plant... 🌱 #Gardening #Archives
There's something rather pleasing about the way Scabious flowers open... #GardensHour 🌱
'Miss Belgium,' a small Hydrangea, is struggling for a second summer in a row, despite fairly regular watering. The flowers are much smaller than usual & the leaves pretty frazzled. The paniculata 'Vanille Fraise' has faired much better though #GardensHour 🌱
Two blackbird fledglings are being far too casual about life, especially as cats tend to visit the garden at night. Why the daft things have taken to sitting on the swing seat rather than hiding in a tall shrub who knows #GardensHour 🪶 🐦⬛
Evening all. The garden is parched at the moment but there's plenty of fresh water for the hedgehogs & birds in trays & bird baths... and a small pond with Lily pads for insects to land on to take a drink #GardensHour
A pink & white themed #SixOnSaturday featuring... a 'Miss Belgium' Hydrangea, a Drumstick Allium, a dwarf Water Lily, a Scabious, Hydrangea paniculata ‘Vanille Fraise’ & Purple Loosestrife 🌱 onemanandhisgardentrowel.wordpress.com/2026/07/04/s...
Terry Wogan's diminutive but fragrant 'Tog Meister' Rose has done much better this year #RoseWednesday 🌱
New Dawn has staged a come back after looking bit ropey last year. Roses have done really well this summer #GardensHour 🌱
Unlike me, the selfseeded California Poppies enjoyed the heat last week #GardensHour 🌱
Hoping for some rain tomorrow - enough to freshen up the garden & replenish some water butts after last week's heatwave, but perhaps not too much... in remembrance of the fantastic Penelope Keith #GardensHour
These fragrant Mallow have been a pleasant surprise this month. I'd forgotten I'd sown them. They smell almost like Sweet Peas #GardensHour 🌱
In today's #SixOnSaturday... A fragrant Mallow, Roses, a California Poppy & a new acquisition! 🌱 onemanandhisgardentrowel.wordpress.com/2026/06/27/s...
The Wax leaf Privet flowers have been proving popular with the six legged wingy things, including a comma flutterby #GardensHour 🌱
I had the pleasure of visiting the lovely Chideock Manor Garden, located between Lyme Regis and Bridport in Dorset, last week #GardensHour 🌱
Evening all. I've been enjoying the fragrance of the new Philadelphus ‘Petite Perfume Pink’ flowers - although it's got rather swamped by the Japanese Anemones #GardensHour 🌱
'Tis #SixOnSaturday time... This week we have a petite and pink Philadelphus, a hairy caterpillar, a Scabious flower bud, a Comma Butterfly, 'Gerty' & Penstemon 'Garnet' 🌱 onemanandhisgardentrowel.wordpress.com/2026/06/20/s...
In today's #SixOnSaturday ... a flowering Waxleaf Privet, a Perennial Cornflower, Roses, a Rock Rose & an Astrantia onemanandhisgardentrowel.wordpress.com/2026/06/13/s... 🌱
The best water feature for a garden has to be a bird bath! Endlessly entertaining! #GardensHour
