finally made it to Deadly Wax in Granada Hills and filled in some big gaps in my collection. great shop!! (and great name...! 😏😎💀🎧)
rare pic of me on set for LCD Soundsystem's North American Scum video, which I cut 19 (!!) years ago. My old Nasa worm logo shirt! Director Ben Dickinson on right! saw on Tidal there was a making of video i either wasn't aware of or forgot existed
oh hey Rabbit Trap in the NYT today with a nice mention of my sound work in the film! in a stunning coincidence, i ALSO recommend watching it with the volume turned up as high as your ears can handle
straight up abuse machine. no good legit reason for this. money and abuse. like most gen ai bullshit
my kid coming in last minute with the greatest birthday present i've ever received
as a birthday present to myself i finally got one of my holy grails i had the CD growing up, but, unbelievably, there has never been vinyl of the incredible BRAZIL soundtrack. tape sounds fantastic.
obligatory 4th jalapeno salso prep photo. but more importantly, fuck you donald trump, fuck the GOP, fuck ICE and fuck all the shit for brain enablers that put us here. eat your own shit, scumfucks
whoa! I CAN SEE YOU is only like 16 bucks at @vinsyn.bsky.social right now! buy one and leave a review! better yet buy seventeen!! vinegarsyndrome.com/products/i-c...
listen to the After The Astronaut version of "Intelligent Guy" and then immediately listen to the Weird Revolution version- perfect case study in "overzealous label circa 2000 ruins a song" that weird nu-metal chorus never made sense and now we know why - it wasn't actually supposed to be there
better 28 years late than never! The compromised Weird Revolution version did very little for me in 2001 but this actually feels like what they would make in 1998; blends their mid 90s trip-pop w their mid 80s psychedelic studio gear experimentation, tons of bizarre audio collage and sound design
Electric, captivating soundscapes from Iranian composer Siavash Amini - oscillates between chaotic dronal noise and dramatic tonal cascades. First heard about through @nedraggett.bsky.social a few months ago and been going through his excellent catalogue. siavashamini.bandcamp.com/album/eremos
ancient and possibly already used bandcamp code if anyone wants to try it
The cover images were shot at the top of laurel canyon, on the porch of Ti’s weird little treehouse apartment
revisiting for the first time in a long time. hearing it again now i’m kind of amazed how much of it was made (in 2013-2015) with Ableton’s stock instruments and plugins, and Robert Henke’s Max4Live Granulator. likely about 95%, with my HS-60/Juno-106 coming in on the last track.
From the @lightintheattic.bsky.social page: “...reissue is the first to reproduce composer Ōhashi’s ground-breaking “Hypersonic Effect” theory on vinyl, cutting frequencies beyond the realm of human hearing into wax to capture the full spectrum emotional impact of this extraordinary work.”
All time fave ECOPHONY RINNE from the collective that later scored AKIRA, Geinoh Yamashirogumi. Not 100% sure what “hypersonic effect audio” is but it sure sounds 100% incredible
his custom designs are already incredible so it's no surprise Love Hultén's LP DEMONSTRATION DISC is too. mesmerizing ephemeral oscillations and explorative electrical tonescapes. highly recommended vinyl via @swedishcolumbia.com lovehulten.bandcamp.com/album/demons...
