I design games, especially tabletop roleplaying games (Cthulhu Dark, Cosmic Dark). I also write books on storytelling (Play Unsafe) and drift into interactive fiction (39 Steps) and LARP (Will That Be All). And I love theatre, art and history.
Lots of other courses subverted the idea of mini golf, especially the one where it randomly went into a different hole, which had a weird fortune attached.
The Art of Mini Golf at Battersea Arts Centre is fantastic. You start by playing with normal balls, then you end up hitting square balls, inflatable balls and dice. Every course is designed by a different artist.
I was asked to get a pitcher of water for the table, so I did this and I'm rather proud. Commissions open btw
We played Assemblage, a game about creating species that interact with each other. It's interesting! It produced a pretty intense experience in just over an hour.
We played Cthulhu Conspiracy last night, using the latest playset, The Colour Out Of Space. It worked really well! If you look at the map below, you'll see the meteorite had witch marks on, which I think is cool.
We've played a lot of The Cthulhu Conspiracy: The Dunwich Horror, so I'm moving on to The Colour Out Of Space.
We just played The Cthulhu Conspiracy and I can report that it's doing the job of creating massive occult conspiracies.
I'm put together this graphic to help people co-GM The Cthulhu Conspiracy. But it's pretty much how I GM games, honestly.
It's our last day at UK Games Expo! Come and see us on stand 4-757: I've got The Cthulhu Conspiracy as a convention exclusive and lots more. #ukgamesexpo #ukge2026
We've been complimented on our professional-looking business cards at UK Games Expo.
If you come to stand 4-757 at UK Games Expo and say you're from Extracsa, I'll give you a discount. And come and see our stuff anyway. #ukge #ukgamesexpo #ukge2026
We're ready for UK Games Expo! See you tomorrow on stand 4-757.
Of course, this whole thread is basically me saying "Game design isn't what it used to be". Change is fine, but it often means you lose something, and here I think we've lost something around designing games with dice. And I think they're fun.
At UK Games Expo this weekend, I'll have Cosmic Dark, Stealing Cthulhu, Cthulhu Dark, plus a few copies of Play Unsafe and Cthulhu Conspiracy. I'm on stand 4-757, which is apparently at the intersection of Traveller Street and Ultramarines Avenue, if that helps you.
This weekend, it's my first time exhibiting at UK Games Expo. Come and say hello! And buy stuff! That's me, @thievesoftimegames.bsky.social. #ukge #ukge2026 #ukgamesexpo
It's free comic book day! I had no idea what to get, so here we are. (Power Fantasy was not free.)
Well, I'm delighted. Three hours to go, over 800 backers and the total is over £20,000. I didn't think it would do that. www.kickstarter.com/projects/gra...
I saw Summerfolk at the National. It was deliciously complex.
I'm at Phantom Peak! It's curious and fun. I wish I'd come in costume. #phantompeak
Arkham Horror RPG is really working for our game group and the scenarios are well-written. Tonight we summoned some spirits...essentially just because we could.
I played the Fallen London RPG! It's the starter scenario, I think. It was fighty!
We played Dead House, by @bullypulpithq.bsky.social . It was good! It has clever mechanics which I will adapt and steal.
This makes me very, very happy. I've spent a happy few days reading it, tweaking it and remembering how good it is. Yes it's been that long.
Here's the companion piece. They are The Morning After / The Evening Of The Deluge.
It's been a long time since I've seen this Turner painting, but I remember it vividly. It's one of his later ones and was critically panned at the time. Look at the swirls of colour and darkness.
One thing I love about the delicatessen picture above is that the cheapest thing is sold out. And here's some cake. They look identical but they're not quite.
