My current read. I’m interested in the similarity of how Buddhists achieve mindfulness through meditation so they see the world around them with more clarity. As a Stoic I strive to control my emotions so they don’t influence and personalize my rational reaction to events that occur in my universe.

My current read. The true story of Annie Londonderry who in 1890s was the first woman to bicycle around the world. To win a prize she had to do it in 15 months and to earn $5000 en route as well. It tested her physical endurance, her mental fortitude and her PR and self-promotion abilities.

My Sunday morning listening. While Erroll Garner had a short career he played alongside many of the 1940-60’s greats such as Charlie Parker, Barney Kessell, Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis. He never learned to read music and developed a unique piano and composition style of his own.

It’s a “Van The Man” morning here in the retirement residence. I’ve cranked it up and am expecting a visit from my neighbour Mrs. D “aka The Dragon Lady” complaining about the “noise”.
