Making for the fun of it, niching up and out. TTRPGs, software development, whatever else my brain is stuck on right now 🏳️🌈 he/him Current Project: 📕 Waywright, an Etherscout Handbook etherscouts.com
My shiny purple Trubbish has also gotten a lot of screen time so far, as has the Maschiff that I managed to save in one of the many interesting side quests and optional encounters throughout the game.
Shinies apparently appear slightly more commonly in this game than the originals, though I've only found two so far. My little green Pidove grew up so fast 😢
Gotta say, so far just shy of the second badge (of 18 total gyms, plus an Elite 8) Pokemon Rejuvenation is a lot of fun. Tons of fun Pokemon to catch, a storyline that's a bit more adult, and pretty challenging gameplay. Most Pokemon games you sort of breeze through the first gym, not so here
This embroidered-styled Waywright Badge is one of my favorite things I've put together so far. Really looking forward to ordering physical patches one day.
I've had "Starlight Sickness" by Helico Tele stuck in my head all day, and created a modified version of the classic "Hello, Dolly!" plugin for Wordpress. Pops a random lyric from the song onto the admin panel every time I change pages
With the updates to the Graycastle Press core theme done, made some progress on the new version of the Etherscouts website. The registration card all done in #CSS (with custom validation on the Scout ID format in the back end) is maybe one of my favorite #webdesign pieces I've ever made.
My dog Luna, who passed away, got included as well. It seemed right to memorialize her on the page for Good Dog, a game all about remembrance and grief. My first game I ever put on paper, and one that I didn't realize would become really important and helpful to my own grief.
I'm so tired of the bloat that Wordpress plugins carry, so I'm challenging myself to do as much as I can with the redesign of the Graycastle Press website without using any of them. So far so good, and this core theme can get re-used with child themes across my few other websites pretty easily
This whole process had the added benefit of forcing me to simplify and standardize my email templates for both the Graycastle Press list and the newer Etherscouts list, and I'm pretty happy with how they've shaken out too
I dumped my email marketing tool subscription last week after the cost jumped from $12/mo to $33/mo (!!), and honestly much happier with my self-hosted solution. Rather than paying monthly for a service I use infrequently, I just pay for emails sent via Amazon's SES. Saved ~$400 a year!
My inner child is absolutely paralyzed for choice. Was hard enough when it was just three 💀
Really happy with how the design for the Waywright Badge has turned out! Each Etherscout Handbook has a digital badge that you can earn by completing the game, and these are going to look great when I can eventually get them produced as physical patches. Making good progress on this game!
Why yes, the final rewrite of my game Waywright is going swimmingly. Why do you ask?
Took about 25 days, but just completed my re-read of books 1 through 7 of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series Finally ready to start “A Parade of Horribles!”
Yes! I was fighting with fonts on this insert for my upcoming game, and all it took was finding the right flowery font for the "Frog's Pawn" panel in the bottom right and it all snapped together
There really just aren’t good companion-style devices like these out there right now. Most options are gaming form factor versus simple personal or productivity uses. I’m just going to have to find a kit or build one myself, aren’t I?
Trying to talk myself out of the idea that I could accomplish ripping one of these open and turn it into a cyberdeck
This is already going to get me emotional, THIS is what I thought the future was going to be. Working together to explore, to ascend. Continuous improvement and a drive towards balance. We live on an absolute paradise, and all we do is bleed on it.
Made an update to the first journaling game I ever made, Good Dog. Some folks over the years have shared names of pets they've remembered through this game, and I wanted to memorialize them. Always amazing when people have interacted with something I created. graycastlepress.itch.io/good-dog
