As part of our ongoing Outdoor Adventures programme, we were delighted to have a wee guided tour around Hunters Bog at Holyrood Park by Lily, one of the Park rangers with Historic Environment Scotland. We learnt so much about the landscape and times gone by.

The new brick planters by the neighbourhood centre in West Pilton Park are full of colour just now and wildlife is starting to appreciate the new flowers too! #biodiversity #loveparksweek

A massive thank you to Lumacron, Pulsant and Anchorpoint Interiors for their help clearing vegetation away from around young trees in Stenhouse. This is an incredibly valuable task during woodland creation and establishment, and the volunteers enthusiastically got stuck in.

What an amazing walk we had meeting at Bingham Community Centre for a guided herbal walk with Anna at Floramedica. An amazing introduction to what's growing on our doorsteps and how we can put it to good use.

We had a great session in Prestonfield where local residents are transforming the Old Prestonfield Bowling Green into a vibrant community space to grow their own fruit and veggies. If you wish to get involved email esperanza@elgt.org uk

A big thank you to @AegonUK interns for spending a day making greenspace improvements to Gyle Park. The team instated tree rings around 13 orchard trees - helping to reduce competition with other vegetation and improve the public's access to the orchard.

As part of our ongoing Restore The Burn project we have a Party by the Burn event on 21st July at Jewel Park from 12pm to 3pm. We've got Silent Disco, Hooping, Hot Food, Natural Crafts, Pond Dipping and more. The event is free and all activities and food are free too.

Our final session with our Craigroyston High School pupils was an introduction to construction, where the boys helped repair the corner of the pitch in block work in West Pilton Park. They learned the basic skills necessary to rebuild the wall to the correct height.

We are delighted that the Scottish Government have funded the Lothian Climate Forests. ELGT will be the lead organisation for co-ordination and delivery of the projects identified across the region.

What a great day yesterday at the Old Prestonfield Bowling Green Solstice Celebration Event, enjoying music while learning about the use of local herbs and planting flowers in the garden.

The Outdoor Adventures Group went to the opening of the new art installation at Holyrood Education Centre. We were invited to see the art work and do some fun clay sculptures too. Everyone had a fabulous time.

Craigmount High School finished their Duke of Edinburgh sessions by building bird boxes to put up in their school grounds and at home. We can't wait to hear which birds take up residence next spring.

We had a great volunteer session with Housing Growth Partners at Little France Park. The team got stuck into tree care; ensuring the young saplings survive and thrive in areas of long vegetation, removed tree cages which were now hindering growth rather than protecting trees.

A massive thank you to Machines With Vision, who came out to Hunter's Hall Park to carry out some conservation work. The team looked after young trees within the newly created woodland at the far side of the park, then planted 200 wildflower plugs.
