Wildfire smoke is generally very fine and is more like the left image. If you have to be outside, wear an N95 or equivalent high quality mask.
Size matters to airborne particles. Wildfire smoke is just the right size range to reach the lower respiratory tract. Wear a high quality N95 (or equivalent) mask if you’re outdoors. Don’t be outdoors unless necessary.
