Further up Hennepin, Performance Food Group had their bike decapitation ramp out again today even though there's a parking lot half a block back that would fit them. If they're willing to take these obvious shortcuts I wonder what other shortcuts they're taking with the food.
Hennepin on the unprotected part gets pretty much blocked by parked cars most of the Starbucks open hours there.
I'm so happy that it was another fantastic @greatbeyondmn.bsky.social and I am so happy that the weather was excellent but it was definitely the most hot and humid I remember but we got through it together! I'm so happy there was lots of shade added at the Meta Ta Physica stage this year. 1/
MnDOT could do a barrier protected temporary sidewalk on the opposite side of the bridge but they chose not to. Meanwhile in the Netherlands they had some temporary bridges they would place during construction to keep the bike/walk routes reasonable.
I'm also really excited for Franklin to have protected bike lanes and hopefully the 24th St Hiawatha overpass to have the lights fixed and fences removed so we don't have to take the lane with cars anymore east of where the protected bikeway is.

No security from getting hit by cars speeding off of 35W and routinely ignoring the red arrow. Just space for MPD hardware even though way more people get injured by cars than bullets. It's right on the border between the wards of @ward6.minneapolismn.gov and @aishaforward10.com.
50mph+ wind and visibility near zero. I'm thinking about all the weird fertilizer and things sprayed on the topsoil getting kicked up. Probably best to wear a mask and goggles if you have to be outside in it.

Either of the configurations commonly found at campsites in the US would be fine for EV charging but keep in mind that the wiring is sized differently for EV charging (125% for continuous load in 625.41) vs. RV Parks (derated down as low as 41% depending on the number of sites in 551.73) 1/2
I'm going to chime in with a no but also yes. A lot of EV charger cords have the plug for the car on one end and either a 15 Amp 120V (Level 1 or NEMA 5-15P) or 50 Amp 240V (NEMA 14-50P) plug on the other. Many cars come with such a cord.
Still similar as of an hour ago. It would make things so much better if @minneapolismn.gov and Mpls Park Board would go and plow the slush when it loosens up today so it doesn't keep refreezing into ruts. At least the lights on Samatar Crossing work again. #mspcyclecast
W River Pkwy path was covered in rutted slop that's freezing up tonight. Used the road instead because it's dry. Bike lane and south sidewalk are pretty good on Lake St Bridge. Lots of icy patches throughout as everything freezes up. #mspcyclecast
It's sad that the train is going away instead of being extended to where it would probably get way more ridership. Especially poetic that a viable alternative to driving ends the day after an incursion on another country was staged in the name of oil.
“What’s the last car you stopped to take a photo of?” Rental car that I used to visit relatives on Christmas. Before going car free I was concerned about there not being a car available when I needed one. So far so good.
MnDOT will use all sorts of labor hours to strenghten their block of access to bike or walk to Lake St from the Greenway but won't reliably shovel the stairs on a bridge where those stairs are the only legal dry way across a major river outside a vehicle because ... freeway.
In Aug, I biked 200km to Sacred Earth (psytrance festival) since it was in MN. and then after a few days I biked home again. It was the longest distance I had done in a day with camping gear. I'm so excited for bigger trips in 2026. Maybe I will make it to @greatbeyondmn.bsky.social again.
#mspcyclecast Refreezing throughout but Prior Ave bike lanes, S Cleveland Ave bike lanes, and Marshall Ave bike/bus lane are mostly clear except where cars are parked. W River Pkwy, Franklin, and Riverside were almost dry except for parked cars in the way.
Yesterday I celebrated my 3rd year since owning a car with my first winter bike ride of the season. I was able to find enough dry-ish pavement to bed the studs in. It was interesting being in western Europe for a couple weeks and coming back to MN.

I saw so many people using the paths yesterday that would definitely not feel comfortable biking or walking on the road even with a fairly wide shoulder.
