Retrieval splits your page into chunks and stores them separately. Queries pull individual chunks, not pages. So a section opening with "our approach does this differently" is unusable. It needed the paragraph above it, and that paragraph is no longer attached.
The unit of competition in AI search is the paragraph, not the page. Retrieval pulls candidate passages, scores whether each one stands alone, then attributes only the survivors. Which is why a page can rank first and be cited by nothing. Ranking scores the document. Citation scores the fragment.
The question to ask your team Monday morning: "If our best buyer asked ChatGPT for the top 3 vendors in our category right now, would we be on that list?" If nobody knows the answer, that is the answer. What does your team say? #GEO
48% of ChatGPT cybersecurity citations come from Wikipedia. When did you last look at your Wikipedia entry? Most security vendors treat it as vanity. AI treats it as the primary source of truth about your company. #GEO #CybersecurityMarketing
12 months ago, a competitor made a quiet decision. Structured content for AI. Claimed one clear category. Seeded 3rd-party citations. Today they are the default answer when a buyer asks the AI about your space. The window is still open. But only just. #GEO
73% of security vendors are invisible to ChatGPT. Buyers ask the AI first. It cites 2-7 names and builds the shortlist that wins 95% of deals. Citations compound. In 12 months, one vendor is the default answer in your category. You, or your competitor who started today? #GEO
Cybersecurity sales cycles: 12 to 18 months. An AI citation does its job in month 1, building the shortlist. The deal closes in month 14. Last-touch credits the sales call. The citation gets zero, then gets defunded. Measure the full cycle. #GEO
Your MITRE ATT&CK mapping is a gorgeous PDF. To a buyer: premium content. To an answer engine: unreadable, so uncitable. The competitor who published it as an HTML table gets the citation. You shipped your best work in a wrapper AI can't open. #GEO
Google: 10 blue links. Position 8 still gets seen. AI: 2 to 7 sources cited, total. No page two. No runner-up. Every citation is worth far more, and the gap between cited and invisible is now a cliff. Scarcity is the threat and the opening. #GEO
Old buyer: 'SIEM tools.' New buyer: 'best SIEM for a 500-person fintech with PCI scope and a 3-person SOC?' Keyword tools are blind to that. Every constraint is a chance to be included or excluded. Stop researching keywords. Research questions. #AEO
There's no single 'AI search.' ChatGPT rewards authority. Perplexity rewards freshness. Each engine trusts different sources. A fresh comparison page can hit Perplexity in hours and take weeks to move ChatGPT. One strategy for all six is none. #GEO
Your CEO doesn't care that your AI visibility score went 41 to 58. They care which deals it touched. The standard to demand: AI citation, to influence the pipeline, to close-won. Report pipeline, not scores. The budget talk changes instantly. #GEO
The AEO tool trap: fast checklist, generic AI content, a vanity score, a monthly bill. ~12% of marketing budget is moving to AI visibility, and most tools can't tie any of it to a deal. Ask one question: Does this connect to the pipeline? #GEO
Counterintuitive truth about AI search: the more your content sounds like marketing, the less AI cites it. Engines filter out brand bias, so salesy copy gets skipped for neutral, authoritative sources. Most AEO advice tells you the opposite. #GEO
Your AEO tool shows one visibility score. It says 64. Everyone relaxes. Underneath: 71% on Perplexity, 12% on ChatGPT, 5% on Gemini. The average hides the exact gaps, losing you deals. One number isn't simple. It's a blindfold. #AEO
AI-referred traffic to B2B sites is up 527%. It converts 40% better. Roughly 4.4x the value per visitor. And most of it never shows up in your analytics. You're not measuring a smaller channel. You're missing your best one. #GEO
Your buyer's first stop isn't Google anymore. It's a prompt. The AI doesn't hand them 10 links to compare. It hands them an answer with 3 names. You're on that list, or you're out of the deal. Have you checked what your answer is? #GEO
