this is because Ediction lives and dies by the difference blending mode, which subtracts pixels between overlay and base and takes the higher brightness. yknow, math bullshit. here's how it looks with them combined in difference mode:

this bg is the only place where i realized i really wanted the handpainted and parallax vibes to overlap, which led to me having to paint this in two versions where one is like a negative of the other on a color wheel (red is really cyan, etc). 1st pic is the overlay, 2nd is the base.

though it has no bearing on the actual content of the game it is fun to imagine the more action-y lives of the characters

really touched by ediction's reception so far... i haven't had this much fun in a long time! thank you for appreciating these old men who hate each other
