Archive TV viewer, writer, pint drinker: time you enjoy wasting is not wasted. Regular at @cathoderays.bsky.social “general excellent taste” “incredibly good company” “very nice” 📺 ⏪️
I did keep thinking “I should probably test it”. But yep, perfect nick! And a little bigger than I expected. I can stop having to pack a coolbox every time I come over now 😅
My home has acquired its first new appliance! (Many thanks to @dhollingsworth.bsky.social)
Uncovered this guy, who resembles me after several hours removing woodchip wallpaper from the kitchen today. Eternally grateful for the practical and moral support of a few mates, who were kept supplied with brews, bacon sarnies, cold drinks and snacks all day.
Treated myself to some fancy chocolate to celebrate my new house. Realised I am just as excited about a vacuum cleaner arriving tomorrow.
I’ve got a landing bookcase. Feels like it will solve all my problems, surely… (may need a spreadsheet first)
It’s 1974 in The Brothers and they’re on a business trip to France for the day, exploring the Common Market’s opportunities. “Parlez-vous Anglais?” “Yes, sir.” “Oh thank god for that.” Really sums things up!
This is sad. We had half an hour of silent reading at the start of the day throughout my junior school years. A nice calming start, just reading at our desks, without the pressure of reading aloud with a group or whole class.
If you can get hold of one of these, it helped me enormously travelling across half the country yesterday!
As a pale freckly redhead in London today I am hiding from the sun while still trying to make the most of my day.
Ghost Light panel kicks off the final day at #Utopia2026 and gawd bless Marc Platt for attempting to convey the plot to a half hungover audience.
Feeling slightly traumatised by my first full experience of Doctor in Distress at #Utopia2026.
Intense pressure at #Utopia2026 for Eurovision superfan @quiteamess.bsky.social as we place a quiz round on ‘Who was the Doctor when these acts won Eurovision?’ entirely on his shoulders.
This reminds me that on The Other Place there used to be someone who shared old road signage still in place. I do love that there are still plenty of old signs around, like this sort of thing.
Cycling Permitted signs will look like this. The first for shared paths (more common in my experience) so pedestrians and cyclists can use them, and the second is Cycling Only.
“This isn’t a haunted house, is it, Professor? I told you I’ve got this thing about haunted houses.” “Did you tell me that?” “Yes!” “How many have you been in?” “One was enough…” Sitting down with Ghost Light tonight, which baffled me as a kid yet now I just enjoy its whole atmosphere.
Thank you anyone who has sent birthday wishes. I’ve spent a chunk of it enjoying a lot of deaths.
3 double gins in, less than 48 hours off another birthday, and having the ideal Saturday night for my 30’s, thank you very much.
Had a glum day so cheering myself up with Terror on the Thames - the lovely making of doc for Resurrcetion of the Daleks. Eric Saward “We started the story with the killing a number of people in Shad Thames and wanted to sustain that sort of unpleasantness.” Well, you nailed it, Eric. Love it.
Cocktail o’clock at the Cooper household. ‘TARDIS’ recipe courtesy of Gallifrey One and shared with me by one Floppy Lion.
I’m going to assume there’s scandal and filth (because no, I’m not getting the app no matter how many times they ask).
Visited a local riverside festival, bought cheese, had a freshly cooked oatcake, and perused an eclectic assortment of bric-a-brac.
++ @trapone.bsky.social FIELD REPORT INCOMING++ @fubsyshabaroon.bsky.social sadly only reporting in spirit.
I didn’t get where I am today without occasionally running off to a new life in the 70s/80s/90s/40s (via the TV). As mentioned on this episode, I’m fond of Reggie’s pink and white shirt, and he also adorns my wall.
