This is the Falkirk Wheel in Scotland. It lifts boats up to a canal to continue their journey. I rode in a boat on this several years ago and it’s a stunning piece of engineering. One of these, much larger version of course, at each end of a big canal bridge over the strait ought to do it.🤣
