Great visit to Trevor Ham The Cider Man - best cider in Cornwall. #properjob
Look how Tice and Lowe Sainsbury’s tomato grower is! ‘Pleun Van Malkenhorst’ - ‘wait for Pleun, Lowe! He’ll see us right!’ ‘He’d rather slit his eyes than set foot in Liberia you *reckless bloody fool* now: pass the rum….the bottle you fool, the bottle’
#nowreading superb slow burning Freeling about a *butter smuggling* operation running from Holland to Belgium (in the 1960’s butter was cheaper in Holland) I swear only Freeling writes novels about this stuff.
Great day at Maiden Knebworth yesterday. Bloody hot though! Literally no shade on site. The Infinite Dreams exhibition was superb; Maiden great as ever; Darkness one of the best live bands in rock, and really enjoyed Airborne too- utterly demented band.
The Muffuletta sandwich from Central Grocery, New Orleans. Indisputably the finest sandwich on earth.
Sunn 0))) superb tonight in London - one of the most uplifting sets I’ve seen them do. Really intricate - and v. subtle - lightwork, too. great night with @luketurner.bsky.social
I *love* massive hardback rock biographies just called I.e THE ROLLING STONES or LOU REED or DAVID BOWIE. It’s mad isn’t it? 😂 always written by someone on the East Coast. I *love it*. If I’ve heard all the stories before then it’s even better. ‘By this point, Jagger…’ etc Superb. #nowreading
I fucking *love* the sheer dedication old school goths have to the bit. A Cambridge Tesco. Hottest day of the year.
I’ve got one! Signed by Machen, too. A very kind birthday present from my dad.
In this photograph young Andy Burnham has v.strong ‘troubled’ comedian who was on panel shows in the nineties but started as an actor in Peter Greenaway and Neil Jordan movies in the eighties and died in 2008’ energy.
Good morning all. New Substack up. I wrote about Arthur Machen’s extraordinary The London Adventure or The Art of Wandering (1924) Machen’s London… harrysword.substack.com/p/arthur-mac...
Tony Livesy- in this photograph- looks like the result of an experiment involving feeding a primate a diet of nothing but sausage rolls and cocaine for 30 years.
Boss level Harrissa. ‘No rose petals, xantham gum or other nonsense’ ‘Because if it’s not Tunisian it’s not Harrissa’
