Heavy Metal
@heavymetal
I like heavy metal and heavy metal adjacent music. I also like beer.
Btw if your album looks like this and you self describe as symphonic metal you automatically get my attention.
Atreyu fell off after A Deathgrip on yesterday but this album is an all timer. Atreyu doesn’t get nearly enough credit for how good they were at good/cop bad cop metalcore and riding the line of warped tour emo, post-hardcore, and metal. And the vampire motif was so cool at the time.
First time with this one and I was very happy with it. Will spin again. I’d heard Visigoth’s Conquerors Oath but I think I like this one even more. So many awesome licks.
If you have a high tolerance for goofy vocals the power metal band Ascension is a really good listen. Absolutely whipping guitar work and the songs start to sound awesome when you get used to the vocal style. Album - Under the Veil of Madness
I turned 19 just before this came out and it’s still the album I’ve probably listened to more than any other.
Celebrating the 13th anniversary of Cult of Luna’s absolute masterpiece of atmosphere and slow burn. I can’t think of a single album that better shows off how to build on themes and use space to create tension and then release that energy into an onslaught. Exemplary post metal.
I revisited this album yesterday. It’s the album that opened my mind up to doom metal and it still really holds up. Anyone know some good bands that are similar to Smoulder?
By my theory of heavy this album kicks the shit out of generic death metal
A Christmas tradition. It just feels like a holiday album to me and it’s one of the very best power metal albums of all time.
My favorite tech death album is either this, Absolute Elsewhere, or Autotheism I think… but this one is so underrated I tend to think of it as my fav just because I think it deserves more attention.
Don’t try to tell me about modern metal if you don’t even know this album.
Today we are revisiting 10/10 albums to drive away the Sunday scaries f4.bcbits.com/img/a3016111...
This guy is the ultimate that metal meme where he looks like some nerd and if you see him on stage you’re about to get your shit wrecked (it’s Cameron Maynard of The Contortionist). #metalsky
Imo one of the hands down best and most underrated albums of the decade. For fans of - Lorna Shore, Seven Spires, heavier symphonic metal.
Urne - A Feast on Sorrow I know this is what a lot of people who are into extreme metal and post metal think of when they think about emotionally heavy albums. An instant classic
No Terror in the Bang - Heal This is going to have a place in my top 10 or 15 albums of the year. This is a special album that hasn’t been discussed enough.
Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere is in my opinion the best death metal album since Where Owls Know My Name. Though I honestly would not consider it death metal myself. f4.bcbits.com/img/a4024825...
