“In deciding to pursue Jeffrey Epstein in 2012, President Botstein was presented with information regarding Epstein's crimes to which he pled guilty in 2008 and the related allegations against him. President Botstein did not try to further understand what Epstein had done or learn what it meant that Epstein was found in 2011 to be a New York State Level 3 Sex Offender.
A quick internet search would have revealed not only the nature of Epstein's past crimes but also his lifelong status as a registered Level Three Sex Offender who a court had found presented a high risk of re-offending. In reaching the conclusion that Bard should pursue Jeffrey Epstein, President Botstein disagreed with the view expressed by a senior faculty member, whom he had asked to help with a proposal to Epstein, that Bard should not engage with Epstein.”

Support free expression
Santa Fe marched proudly and joyously on "No Kings Day" along with millions of Americans nationwide protesting the fascist regime that is attempting to destroy our democracy. Heidi Feldman, founder of 1A Santa Fe, helped make that happen, challenging the city's demand for $25,000 to pay for the privilege that is our constitutional right.
Now, 1A Santa Fe is circulating a petition for a Free Expression and Public Assembly Ordinance for the city.
Read it at bit.ly/lAordinance. This ordinance would establish a streamlined process for approval from the city to hold rallies, marches and demonstrations at no cost. The petition will be presented to the City Council soon; city leaders have said they want to revise the ordinance as well. People may sign an online petition at bit.ly/1Apetition.

On March 28, people will gather in Santa Fe for No Kings 3 to celebrate and fight for constitutional democracy in the United States. They will exercise their First Amendment rights to assemble and freely express their views.
That is, they will if local government lets them. So far the city of Santa Fe isn't giving me much confidence.
As I quickly learned when I set out to get a strect-use permit for No Kings 3 in Santa Fe, the city's municipal ordinances and implementing regulations are a mess: vague, confusing and complex. … Heidi Li Feldman lives in Santa Fe and is professor emeritus, Georgetown University Law Center.
