Liberal Montanan for 25 years, now in Boise. Yeah the one in Idaho 🤪🥴 Healthcare worker, she/her
Woooow after a few ups & downs it sounds like this amazing 1955 house in Medford, OR might be ours in 4 weeks. Oh and chickens! Stay tuned to find out! The pups and my husband will get to enjoy it for a couple months without me though, while I wrap up my work & rental lease in boise. Sigh.
Gave Lark an “in between appointments” shave down, I’m getting better with the clippers (& prep) she doesn’t look half bad!
This is insane. Eastern Montana. Astronomically hot, like Arizona.
Agggh bouse wtf. Watchduty says vegetation fire. Military reserve area east of the VA.
Lark is safe from the bang bangs as long as mom’s available for a pillow…unfortunately mom’s got to go to work to take care of other folks, dad will have to be an inferior substitute.
Finally downloaded the City of Rocks camping pics, what a cool spot! The birds here were phenomenal. There were also free range cows 🥴
Finally (FINALLY!) finished the paint by number of my pup Lark …first, and probably last one of these i’m going to do 🥴 i picked a kind of hard one first the first one lol.
Ahhhh super relaxing up here in ponderosa. Cool days & nights so the campground is really quiet. Tons of open sites. Biked to osprey overlook, watched a raven family dismember a squirrel. Two juveniles with the adult.
Camping in the Jedidiah Smith redwoods and the Darlingtonia pitcher plant bogs. SO COOL.
Will share some more trip photos now that we’re on the way back to boise (boo). Crescent city, CA - we only made it there for a few hours but it was great to be out in the salt air. Battery Point Lighthouse, a Black Oystercatcher, looking across the waves.
This has been a good, seriously whirlwind week traveling. Lotta miles, lotta socializing, a lot of thinking about the future. Medford seems like the best fit for us, for several reasons. So we hit open houses today, and did a bunch of drive bys. Next 6 months should go by quick (cant move til Dec).
Fun day bike & soak. wilson creek trails & givens hot springs. Horned Larks everywhere, plus a Loggerhead Shrike! Plus i’m always reminded why i gave up beef, CAFO feedlots are horrific & disgusting. Free range cattle in the high desert are a sacrilege.
Yeah wow um WOW, look at ashland :/ thanks for that link, SUPER helpful & love maps. Interesting insurance data from ID showed increasing premiums in places not in forests. Grasslands, sage, ag. From fast wind driven prairie-style fire. So, as you say, complex. I wish corvallis was cheaper 🤔
The birding outside of LaGrande is fantastic. Eagle nest photos from inside our truck with zoom & bird was undisturbed. Headed home today, boo.
Out camping with the 1957 Airfloat in Hot Lake RV park outside LaGrande. It was windy when we snapped that night photo but surprisingly not windy today. Fun birds here too. And lots of goofy vintage trailer nerds.
What the fck, this is really shocking to me. Not that monsanto is an evil horrific corporation only concerned with raking in billions of dollars regardless of the human cost (that part i knew), but the forest service spraying vast swaths of public land. Omg.
Good thing its the “safe” time of year for desert doodles feet, before the cheatgrass seeds get sharp 😱 we’re enjoying it while we can
Well the Eagle Island SP in Eagle, ID was fine for one night to dewinterize the camper but I can’t say I recommend it for a camping experience until a few years have passed. Its brand new, trees are small and the sun just bakes that bare dirt & asphalt. They did not grade appropriately for drainage…
Yeah the Dixie stove & matching GE fridge in the rose gold color from the 50s. Fridge is aqua inside 100% complete didnt need anything, just clean & plug in. Stove got a deep restoration.
The tub has the original hardboard surround that is just …so hideous and great at the same time. Yellow with abstract brown accents
Pecan mahogany, thats a china hutch / desk / expanding table beside tge click clack couch. Original appliances, bathroom with a full size cast iron pink tub … a teensy bit extravagant 😂
Whee going out camping with the 1957 Airfloat, all the way to EAGLE from Boise lol. Come say hi if you see this gold beast.
Here’s the raised bed I was talking about earlier with @dtwyman.bsky.social we are so lucky it was at our rental, it cranks out the greens for me. The cold frame is such a great simple design, polycarb panels on 3 sides, fence at the back of the bed. Keeps out the squirrels and my berry loving pup.
Oregon coast awesomeness from years ago for @idaholark.bsky.social
