In premiere, I create a transparent video that acts as a placeholder. If there are certain effects I want applied to all footage like a Lumetri look, I apply it to the placeholder. After I cut the placeholder in time with the edit, I replace it footage from the bin or source monitor.
I have a mouse with a num pad on the side and rebound the keys the most common commands like switching tools, undo, redo, stuff like that. Makes it a little quicker when I don’t have to look back at my keyboard to do certain commands, plus I have a hand free when one of my kitties wants pets.
