Saw the Woodsies and thought it might be cute to try and make little Australian animal squeaky fingerpuppet tpys with a bag that doubles as a house, so I put in an order for what I thought was 5 squeakers. Anyway, I guess every grandie will get a family of tiny squeaky toys 😂!
Come stay at the lovely Snug Haus in Tasmania. Cosy and warm, everything you need and a meadow of winter blooms.
New weaving project, a wool scarf for my sister with different shades of red, her favourite colour. Loving the boat shuttle with exchangeable bobbins, so smooth and pretty, it just glides through the warp! How lucky am I that this came free with the second hand loom ❤️.
Gizmo was already a senior aged 8 when my daughter adopted him earlier this year. He's such a wise old man and infinitely patient with my toddler grandson. Senior pets are special.
Warping on a wide, long, cosy scarf for my sister. She loves bright colours and I'm not sure I have enough red for the whole weft. I might experiment with fading some yellow in and out in the weave to give a brighter sunny effect, what do you think?
Awesome swim at Snug Beach this morning. 12⁰C water, 4⁰ air temperature. The sun was warm but the water felt icy.
The days are getting longer and the blossoms are emerging at Snug Haus! A field of golden jonquils, so come stay in July and August!
Dark Mofo over for another year. Always an experience! I did the cheapskate version this year, lots of walking, free art, just soaking up the atmosphere and finishing with a dinner of hot chips 😁
Old notebook, calendar picture, brown paper and contact remade into a new guest book for Snug Haus! The picture is "First Light, Iron Pot" by Dave Davenport. You can see the lighthouse blinking at night off Dennes Point, Bruny Island from Snug Haus ❤️
The Tiny Marsupial of Hope was broken! But it was fixed with love and glue by my husband and once more holds my breakfast coffee ❤️. @firstdogonthemoon.bsky.social has this and more exciting mugs, without glue 😂
It's so so sad when they die. I hope the wild birds are some comfort. Here's a Weka I met in New Zealand when we went on a recent rare trip to visit friends and relatives. He wasn't scared! They're the size of a smallish chook. Apparently they steal eggs!
Glorious day for a swim at Snug Beach. Water and air both about 13⁰C. No wind, a flock of seagulls on the water. ❤️
The recent rain has brought out the fungi. Spotted these on a walk along the Snug River.
46mm of rain last night and the Snug River is roaring! The colour is tannin, which also makes it foam.
NZ also has the amazing Kauri Museum in Matakohe, when we visited several years ago the olden days dentist surgery display included this worrying shovel in the corner of the room 😬
I love the Nelson Provincial Museum in NZ. Sarah Higgins' knickers for the win.
Omg I MADE A MISTAKE. I'm going to have to fix that because I can't unsee it now.
I inherited this travel wallet and I'll totally be taking it on my next trip even if it's to Launceston 😂. Now I need to find a steamship!
Staying at Snug Haus? Grab the torch from the dining space sideboard and go for a walk up Snug Tiers Road. First down to the Snug River tributary bridge, you will hear the river to your left and see the creek going under the bridge, quietly or noisily. Then up hill as far as you like.
Starting up a scarf for my son! It's a mix of the variegated yarn which is cotton, bamboo and of all things seaweed fibre? The weft will be various colours of cotton from my stash. He requested no animal fibre and I didn't want to use synthetic, so we'll see how this goes!
Evening sky at Snug, Tasmania. The cooler months are the best time to stay at the cosy Snug Haus, with great tea and coffee, breakfast goodies provided, lots of books and games and the comfiest seats.
