A tub of water might not be quite the method we’d recommend for watching tomorrow’s eclipse - but it’s a lovely reminder that people have long found ingenious ways to observe the Sun safely. How will you be safely viewing the #solareclipse tomorrow – with solar glasses, or another method? 👀💧
🌞 How to watch a solar eclipse, according to Caroline Herschel 🌑 "On the day before my Brothers arrival viz 1764 1st. 10th m. there happened to be an Eclipse of the Sun* which we were all assembled to observe in the courtyard around a tub of water, where my Father explained the phenomenon to us.”
The best Solar Eclipse the UK has seen since 1999 is set to appear at around 19:13pm BST on Wednesday🌞 Wednesday & Thursday: Perseids Meteor Shower 💫 Continue the astronomical theme back here on earth by visiting The Herschel Museum and exploring our Solar System Trail🌍
This is no ordinary picture frame... 🖼️ The Herschel Museum is filled with fascinating objects like this. What else will you discover?🔭 #herschelmuseum #bathuk #spacelovers #astronomy

Explore the garden at The Herschel Museum🪻 The garden has been designed to replicate a planting scheme typical for a Georgian town-house. From this very garden on the night of 13 March 1781, William Herschel discovered the planet Uranus.
The Herschel Museum of Astronomy is dedicated to the achievements of William and Caroline Herschel. This brother and sister duo were distinguished astronomers and talented musicians. It was from this house that William discovered Uranus in 1781. #herschelmuseum #bathuk #spacelovers #bathmuseums
