Instead, you need to look to the people you trust to offer you refuge, and then actually accept that safety. That alone is enough. But bonus points if you learn to dance in the rain.
When it storms, you have two options. You can run for cover—which is a natural, evolutionary response that no one should judge. Or, you can learn to dance in the rain.
Recently, I have realized that I am just like Mister Freddie. I am fundamentally safe now, even though life is hard. But because I was put in a cage in my own past, in institutions, I still overreact when the metaphorical storms hit.
I often tell him, “Mister Freddie, you are safe because I would never put you in an unsafe place.” But he doesn't understand English, so the words go over his head.
Yet, because he was introduced to the world in such a terrifying way, Freddie still struggles to trust that he is safe. Whenever thunder, fireworks, or gunshots boom outside, he tucks his tail and runs for cover.
Today, Freddie is a happy dog. He takes daily doses of Prozac and gabapentin, but medication isn't the only reason he thrives. He is never left in solitary confinement. He has a canine best friend named Holly who is always with him, and he receives constant physical contact and affection.
Realizing that I was the only one willing to provide the constant patience, petting, and praise he needed to feel safe, I gave up the idea of fostering and adopted him myself.
What calmed him was love and physical touch. During his nine months in the shelter, his only reprieve had been when prospective adopters passed by and touched him through the bars; fingers through the steel meant everything to him.
However, every time he went back to the shelter, he was returned. Three different families adopted and subsequently rejected him because his trauma made him entirely unmanageable; he would bark his head off and panic.
Mister Freddie had a traumatic start to life, spending his first nine months confined to a shelter cage. I initially took him in as a foster dog, intending only to hold him until someone else adopted him.
I have two dogs, and one of them is named Freddie. We call him Mister Freddie because, although he was out of control as a puppy, he has learned to be a little gentleman. Now, he wears a bowtie on his collar to show for it.

And then you look back at the Reddit posts knowing he has some pretty credible rape accusations against him, and they start to look less just like a drunk soldier with PTSD and more like he’s also a guy who really sympathizes with rapists because he is one.
Either you have not seen the post or that’s just complete gaslighting. “The best chance of that stopping is someone killing him. If only.” If only what? If only someone killed him. What did YOU think he meant by “if only.” If only what?

Motherless DID hidden camera stuff of women naked, on the toilet, or upskirt. That is rape, absolutely. That’s a nonconsensual sexual violation, would be traumatizing to have that online — it’s rape. I’m just not able to find any story saying smart glasses were used to make those Motherless videos.
