Not only did I get to see the Big Boy go over horseshoe curve this weekend, I also got to see three other steamers. Two steamed up, one in pieces. An excellent rail weekend in Altoona!

It really was seeming the bring people together. Even at some spots where there were too many people to get “the shot”, they still had “good vibes” as video brother said. I felt like these gatherings needed to be documented too, along with the train. Here’s my attempt at documenting “the moment”.

People lined the tracks from Scranton to Philly. Some of these were dedicated watch parties at local businesses, some were impromptu meetings with neighbors along the right of way, and others were planned whistle stops by UP. It was like nothing I’ve ever seen while chasing trains.

On the way up to the crayola factory, I stopped by Phillipsburg, NJ to chase Susquehanna 142 at the Delaware River Railroad. 142 is a 2-8-2 Mikado type steam locomotive, built in china in 1989. #steamlocomotive #steamtrain #steamengine #newjersey #easton

Finally did some work on my HO layout tonight after focusing on N scale for months. Added a 4th staging track and redid the Trenton area to include a runaround. This will allow me to run more through trains during ops sessions. #modeltrains #modelrailroad
