Mr Tonks comes up with the goods. This carried trains under the bridleway and on to the mainline loading area. Mr Tonks also informed me it had been backfilled along with the cutting.
I'm researching this little area. This is about where our walks used to stop and turn back. If you take a look at where the line coming in from the west meets the bridleway there is a bridge symbol. Hmm. I love me a bridge.
The pin at the bottom was where me and dad used to park to walk up the bridleway to the west of the mainline. This was the site of Glendon and Rushton ironstone quarries. The longest continually quarried site in the Midlands.

Here she is. Pixie is a 2 ft gauge W.G. Bagnall 0-4-0 saddle tank locomotive built in 1919. Isn't she s beauty? I'll tell you a bit more about her in a bit.
