"... the President of the Faculty Senate had cc'd the letter to all faculty rather than bcc'ing, which was a total rookie move. A bunch of folks replied-all to the letter, starting all kinds of multi-threaded email-chain fights and outrage pile-ons. There were also a bunch of reply-all clarification questions, most of which had been answered in the original email, which various blowhards replied-all to point out. Then, several folks replied-all to ask that people stop replying-all, and a few more people replied-all to ask that the discussion move to the Faculty Senate online forum, which few people remembered how to access, so only maybe ten people made the move, and the discussion there died a miserable death after only a few posts."

Yup. The stupid part is tasking individuals with solving systemic problems, as Shakesville said years ago.

A fave meme: the giant container ship has run aground, and a front-loader that looks tiny next to it is trying to shovel earth away. Container ship is labeled STRUCTURAL PROBLEM, and the front loader is labeled MAKING DIFFERENT PERSONAL CHOICES.

While I’m in traffic, volunteers are at the overpass, encouraging us commuters to honk & wave. They wave US flags, have a big sign that says “NO WAR CRIMES,” and a smaller one saying “General Strike May 1.”
