I half-jokingly put a Jimmy Buffett tattoo on my birthday list for my parents and sister. This is one of maybe a dozen identical temporary tattoos that were designed by 18 year old niece. My mom MAY lose her mind when she first sees it! 😆 (and, yes, I’m 53 years old …)

Aw man, I just got a full-on flashback memory of my youth, trying that abomination and thinking it was gonna be something I loved. I can almost taste that weird dryness in my mouth right now.

The General Assembly recently passed HB 1263 and SB 378, a historic step forward for the rights of teachers, school staff, and public servants. However, a new "substitute" version of the bill has been proposed that significantly weakens these protections.

Instead of signing the collective bargaining bill, Abigail Spanberger submitted more than 20 amendments that had not been discussed during the session which essentially gut the bill and make it so that a politically appointed (by any future governor) board will be able to decide who can bargain, what can be bargained, etc. That means our union (which finally won bargaining rights after working for it for YEARS) could lose our rights depending on who the Governor is and who they appoint to a board. She removed the ability for arbitration. She delayed any effectiveness until 2030 and removed school-based administrators from having their own bargaining unit (that would now be up to the PERB to decide.) It would be better for the GA to reject her amendments and send the bill back to her, where she may refuse to sign it, than for it to be passed in this form. 🤬

The ACC tournament is my favorite sporting event. The championship is MY NIGHT. 🧡💙 2014? The ultimate. Yes, I will be up and down and root for my Hoos in the tourney, and I will probably fill out a bracket. But tonight, I discarded all orange and blue for a bit.
