PSA: tomorrow is a world cup rest day. There's some Champions League qualifying during the day, and there are 4 USL games in the evening if you're desperate for a fix (all times central).

USL Championship: Hartford Athletic (4-6-3) vs Orange County SC (7-6-2) at 6:00 followed by Sacramento Republic vs Rhode Island FC (both teams 4-4-4) at 9:30.

USL League One: Greenville triumph (3-1-7) vs Sarasota Paradise (5-1-10) and New York Cosmos (2-1-8) vs FC Naples (5-2-8). Both games are at 6:00.

All four games are on ESPN+.

This was fun, although I would argue that I'm more socially progressive than my aesthetic choices indicate. That being said, @peatandpastry.bsky.social grew up in the UMC, so it kind of fits?

Your taste lives in the post‐split UMC. After the 2022 disaffiliation, the denomination that remains is more uniformly affirming of LGBTQ+ inclusion than it used to be, while still holding the Methodist instincts for hymns, small groups, social engagement, and the experiential warmth that John Wesley called the heart strangely warmed. The cultural neighborhood is mainline America at its most accessible: covered‐dish suppers, choirs, a Wesleyan instinct for both personal holiness and social holiness.
