Tech Art Director at Zynga. I love nostalgia! All thoughts my own... and not great? (he/him) My YT! Lewiston, ID
Howdy! Here's an update to the last video, longer, with better music, way more detail, and VO. I hope you like it. 4K in the 🧵!
Hello! Here's the latest from my Star Wars nonsense - I just finished up the Mon Calamari Frigate I started working on back in 2020, finally, and decided to make a quick video of it with some other ships that I'd made! 4K in the 🧵!
Updaaaaaaaaates to my Mon Calamari Frigate... I improved the shape language of the landing bay to be more rebel-esque. I also added more cut in details to the main hull and replaced some of the auto-placed details with bespoke stuff.
Some lunchtime progress on my Mon Calamari Frigate - focused in on material, tweaks for near and far shots, and adding in a landing bay!
Holy crap! After about 56 hours of rendering, this Dry Dock fly around animation of the Concordia is done! The original design was commissioned by Josh Dworkin, The name and registry numbers are references to the CBN-65 Concordia carrier from Wing Commander 2! 4K in the 🧵!
First built Lego MOC (rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-228...) made with my new custom Space Police 1 stickers!
Whooo hoo! Got more supplies, and I think I've done a fairly good job of matching the colors. The first new sheet of Space Police '89 custom Lego stickers has been all filled out!
Finally figured out a great way to easily make custom stickers for LEGO MOCs! Here I'm using some art made for a Space Police build from like 20 years ago, which is when I last gave up on this. Rebuilding it anew, now!
Progress on the Starfleet Science Cruiser commission, the USS Concordia! All the materials have been assigned, all that's left is adding all the livery, decals, and spot lighting! I got excited and jumped the gun a bit and started making some final-stage renders. :D
So - hear me out. Hold on. I don't want to be controversial, but the best updated design for Slippy the Toad was already out there, right!?
Okay! Star Trek commission update - Primary detailing is done on the USS Concordia Fleet Science Cruiser. Moving onto texturing sometime next week. Showing some wireframes this time!
Even more detailing on this Star Trek commission! Gotta do the duck-fan cut out stuff, then the pylons and nacelles. Then it's onto texturing! USS Concordia design by Josh Dworkin. :)
Okay! Lots more detailing done on the pylons, nacelles, and lower secondary hull!
Some Star Trek fleet commish updates from last night - bridge work and prepping for saucer lines. I'm quite fond of this thing.
Okay, this is a massive re-render of this scene, with bespoke, actual voice work by Balwin Williams Jr - Tons of improvements and tweaks, and I really like how it ended up looking and sounding. I hope you like it!
Back to the Barn - Penultimate Star Trek short shot! It's almost done - I just need to re-render the whole thing. :P Brand-new VO work by Baldwin Williams Jr. This shot was a monster to render. 4K in the 🧵! Enjoy!
Huge Star Trek shot update! Fixed all sorts of issues, added some cool VFX to the scrubbing action, and fixed the lighting angles. High-sample render, working on the SFX now! Enjoy, and suggestions are welcome!
Star Trek shot update! Some of the timing on the scrubber masks got f'd up, but I'll fix that in the next go round. Also, I feel like the lighting angle shifts a bit *too* much over the course of the shot. I'll tone that down. Enjoy, and suggestions are welcome!
Another WIP Star Trek shot! This one will have a voiceover commenting on how they managed to prevent all but very minor damage, then you have these workbees in floor polish mode. :D Suggestions welcome!
Okay! The shuttlebay for the Niimiipuu is done for now, I will probably make another pass through before the final render for more detail/polish, but at least it's got 4 walls now. :D
Here's some work on the Shuttle bay for that latest Star Trek shot - it'll be very visible when the Workbees come in to land. Making good progress, trying to not get lost in details we'll never see. :P
Here's just the preview part of the end of the shot, with temp VO and music, for those interested. :P
Okay! I had to extend the shot to 1540 frames (!!!) to get everything in at a good pace, so here's where it's at with SFX. I rendered out some low sample preview footage at the end to help show the impulse engines and warp coils powering up. Now to add more details!
Here's what I've got! I took a ton of feedback, and added some stuff. The workbees aren't following the ship yet, but I will get that working. It's now 1400 frames long, almost a full minute of footage - my longest shot yet, a real monster. I have a bunch of more to add!
Next Star Trek short shot - low sample preview render version! I'm...quite honestly not sure what to add to this one, if anything. Ideas welcome! :D
