The hoarding has gone up to start demolition of the New Era Estate on cycleway1 in Hoxton. I really fear the mix of hundreds more heavy vehicles on an extremely busy cycleway & road. It needs very careful management.

Sorry to post from the hellsite but someone sent me this & it’s worth sharing. Well done @paulkohlersw19.bsky.social. There are real issues with some floating bus stop designs but NFBUK have a completely unrealistic position that would kill cyclists & make safe cycling infrastructure impossible.

I must’ve cycled C27 on Sidmouth Street hundreds of times but I’d never previously noticed the little gate leading to a lovely cemetery-park (St George’s Gardens). London is full of surprises.

💯 And the societal cost of all that chaperoning kids never gets accounted. Let alone the cost on their own freedom & mental & physical health. It’s happened in such a short space of time. For all of human history before this kids were free to explore.

Nice improved cycle connection into St Peter’s LTN Islington. But honestly there is enough space here to do this down the whole street of every street in the LTN. Can we be a bit more ambitious in how liberated roadspace is used?

The truth is most tradespeople don’t need to drive a van for most jobs. The shrewd ones aren’t complaining about LTNs, they’re getting ahead & reducing costs using cheap agile cargo bikes.

Never trust a Tory with the NHS. Of course the UK govt spends a lot on healthcare it is a fully public system. The cost per capita is in fact low especially for the outcomes. As for bureaucracy it is vastly less bureaucratic than an insurance system. Plain lies. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Out on the bike this morning with my 9 year old & it is so obvious driving in cities is a fundamentally antisocial activity. Single occupant cars, impatient aggressive driving, hot engines chugging out fumes on a boiling morning & everywhere people dumping their cars like this.

Love my local bike shop but slightly baulk at £90 to change a chain/cassette on my rusty old bike so I had a go at doing it myself (I am a total amateur so go easy bike-sky). Shimano freewheel & chain £21 (eBay) tools & lockring remover (one-off) £25. Only tricky bit was getting old freewheel off.
