#UKGovsRead This summer's slow read & chat begins this weekend - #UKEdGovs #UKEd do join the conversation. Chapt 1 - What is Governance? begins with the definition adopted by @ngauk.bsky.social including the phrase 'Governance determines who has the power ...' what do you think of this phrase? 1/2
My next read- I don't know why it has taken me so long to get to this in my TBR pile 💙 📚
#40DaysofPhD A good writing day yesterday connecting up Intro and Conclusion- until I had to give in to the heat. Will start again early this morning ##PhDSky Getting there!!
Day 29 of #40DaysofPhD A good weekend of fun with friends, conference presentation all finished & some thinking/planning for this week. Today I move on to my Conclusion Chapt. Trying to do something every day for 40 days to make big progress on the long #PhD road
My father was a Victorian - born in 1896! This is him at c21 when he travelled ftom London to Vladivostok towards the end of WW1 only to find the war was ending and he had to travel all the way home again! He was 60 when I was born & died when I was 21 - I don't know a lot about him really 🤷♀️
#40DaysofPhD I have 2 days now with quite s lot of time available for finishing the final edit of Discussion Chapter and drawing themes across to start The Conclusion - hoping to get lots done! Walking the final miles of #PhD road
Fabulous concert in our village church yesterday with Lydian Choir - strawberry/ice cream treats afterwards went down a storm too (this was a test prototype!)
#40DaysofPhD I've prepped my conference presentation, so tomorrow, I'll do final check of Discussion Chapter before moving to Conclusion. Today's busy with charity event so thinking time in between organising & jobs. #PhDsky Making progress on the long #PhD road, maybe I can see the destination!
#40DaysofPhD I have plenty of time for writing today & planning to tackle a tricky section of my Discussion Chapter with which I'm dissatisfied - big edit coming up! My perfectionist streak is a big barrier so ... 'done is better than perfect' is my new mantra! #PhDSky Climb that #PhD mountain!
I raise you this fabulous heritage box from Isle of Wight bought to make huge yummy salad last weekend for friends - they are gorgeous
Day 14 of #40DaysofPhD A couple of hours for writing this morning before I head into school for governors committee meeting this afternoon. Making progress - chipping away this #PhD Climbing the PhD mountain!
Day 12 of #40DaysofPhD a good writing session yesterday, and I am very happy with how this chapter is shaping up. A very short window today to do a bit more, but I'm chipping away at it. Trying to do something every day for 40 days to climb the #PhD mountain. #PhDSky
#40DaysofPhD Hopefully a good few hours to spare on the Discussion Chapter today. Making progress on the long #PhD road. #PhDSky Plus - don't you love it when you come across a section and think 'that is really quite good!' 😂 A turbo boost!!
A bit late to #WildFlowerHour #OrchidChallenge but imagine the delight in finding 1 orchid flowering where we have let the orchard grass grow long for the past 3 years. There is a second larger plant but with no flower. Identification? We are on chalk wolds- Early Pyramidal?
#40DaysofPhD Day7 - My aim today is to complete my presentation for @belmasoffice.bsky.social #BELMAS2026 Conference. Good for gaining real clarity of thinking. Trying to do something each day for 40 days to climb the #PhD mountain.
#40DaysofPhD A good supervision meeting - gave me the confidence that I am doing the right things. Then my laptop (which has been going weird for a few weeks) crashed completely. So I've lost confidence in it - out to get a new one & set it up. Tomorrow is another day! #PhDSky
#40DaysofPhD Well yesterday was planning & today was thinking Tomorrow I've a supervision at which I need to discuss if I'm trying to cover too many points in my discussion & would be better to do less but in depth #PhDSky Trying to do something every day for 40 days to make big progress #LongRoad
Our village community orchard is looking fab this weekend, fruit setting and apple blossom in it's 3rd year.
My next read for our teeny book club (3 of us!) I seem to have read a few historical novels recently, which is not my normal genre, so I will be interested to see what this is like. 💙📚
#4WeekPhDPush Another difficult day yesterday - writing is hard! However, I think I finished the day seeing a way forward for today and tomorrow when I have lots of time available. #PhDSky - this chapter will get written - I will get to the end of this #PhD Onwards on the bumpy road #PhDSky
... and here is ours. It is a listed 'building' too as it is a K6 designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott in 1935 to commemorate King George V’s Silver Jubilee.
After a lovely Easter weekend I am back on task today #4WeekPhDPush That Discussion Chapter needs writing, and I'm going to do it. In fact this week I'm writing every morning & relaxing/gardening every afternoon - it's a plan! #PhDSky Marching on down that #PhD road.
I went to church and was given this easter chick (with a creme egg inside) - we all got one, made by a parishioner - adorable! This afternoon? I'll probably eat it and watch a film
A lovely walk in the woods yesterday - fresh air, trees, exercise - fab! No work today but tomorrow back on the #4WeekPhDPush
#4WeekPhDPush Well, tooth was removed yesterday, pain gone, back to writing. Tackling another section of Discussion Chapt. today. Struggling to get the balance between findings, literature, and my analysis right. Step by step, I will get there. #PhDSky #LongRockyPhDRoad
#4WeekPhDPush A morning of writing ahead - hoping to get a section sent off to my supervisor, so that's my target. Trying a huge push to get the Discussion chapter written and get to the home straight. It's a long #PhD journey! #PhDSky
My next read - Tim Man by Sarah Winman. I'm looking forward to this as I absolutely loved Still Life 💙📚
Just finished The Land in Winter - what a miserable read! Not "tender" and "elegant" as the blurb suggests but bleak. I almost gave up but kept hoping it would get better - IMO it didn't 😂 Did anyone else struggle with this novel? 💙📚
