My father was a Victorian - born in 1896! This is him at c21 when he travelled ftom London to Vladivostok towards the end of WW1 only to find the war was ending and he had to travel all the way home again! He was 60 when I was born & died when I was 21 - I don't know a lot about him really 🤷‍♀️

A bit late to #WildFlowerHour #OrchidChallenge but imagine the delight in finding 1 orchid flowering where we have let the orchard grass grow long for the past 3 years. There is a second larger plant but with no flower. Identification? We are on chalk wolds- Early Pyramidal?

Just finished The Land in Winter - what a miserable read! Not "tender" and "elegant" as the blurb suggests but bleak. I almost gave up but kept hoping it would get better - IMO it didn't 😂 Did anyone else struggle with this novel? 💙📚
