Extreme #heat kills more people than other extreme weather events. The word here isn’t “gentler”; it’s “deadlier.” Inexcusable headline (surprise, surprise) from the @nytimes.com. #climatechange
On this Earth Week, I give you 30 seconds of spring peepers. 🐸
Incredible things happen with science! Congratulations and thank you #Artemis —and Christina Koch, fellow grad (different year) of the North Carolina School of Science & Mathematics 🦄—for showing us what’s possible as we all live together on the one beautiful planet that needs us. #splashdown 🚀🌎
On a day when an unstable president threatens/plans to destroy an entire civilization, let’s hold onto another way—of peace & of care toward each other and the natural world. This bald eagle cam with newborns is a beautiful example of what can be. Our national bird. www.youtube.com/live/B4-L2nf...
While on one hand it speaks to the calmness we need these days (and the retro visuals *are* soothing), on the other hand I’m struck by the psychological incongruity of nostalgic #weatherchannel visuals with smooth jazz when #extremeweather due to #climatechange is becoming more frequent and intense.
As a clinical psychologist, I’m very disturbed that the Supreme Court has ruled against a ban on “conversion therapy,” a long-discredited, illegitimate practice that causes many serious harms. Amicus brief supporting CO, filed by 14 mental health orgs: www.apa.org/about/office... #scotus
The truth is the truth, no matter how loudly obsequious people cheer. #stateoftheunion

We are creatures of the natural world—we evolved within it, we’re part of it, we’re bonded with it in mutual belonging in the dance of life. Here’s to our beloved places that make us whole. #nature #ecopsychology #greensky
65% of Americans are at least somewhat worried about climate change—worries that are based on facts. Trump-EPA’s plan reflects an administration/leader in thrall to fossil fuel money and w/ no qualms about causing suffering. Sadism loves power and has no empathy. #climatechange #globalwarming
Happy to be part of this great piece on youth climate anxiety and action by Myriam Vidal Valero in the APA Monitor on Psychology. Read it here: www.apa.org/monitor/2025... #climatechange #climateanxiety #climatedistress
Displacement = getting angry at an easy target when the actual source of our anger is too anxiety-provoking/overwhelming and we feel powerless to address it. What if collective anger & action were directed at the actual underlying reason for the fires—climate change? #lawildfires #climatechange
Collaborated last yr w Robin Cooper & Dan Murphy on a Wildfire Smoke Toolkit (graphics-Jacob Lee) for @climatepsychiatry.bsky.social. If you’re not urgently in harm’s way in the CA wildfires but are being exposed to smoke, some helpful info: www.climatepsychiatry.org/wildfire-smo... #lafires
