Day 4: Kings Dominion, Twisted Timbers really rearranged our insides and for some reason we rode it twice
Day 2 at Carowinds in the bag, finished the day with some proper BBQ against doctors orders
It’s been a couple weeks now but the EP3 is off to a new home. Sadly out of the family but he agreed to first right of refusal if he ever sold it. Already missing this little momentum monster.
Future BBQ pool party food idea, grilled salmon sliders Grilled salmon, unseasoned except a little oil to prevent it sticking to the grill Dill relish, can be sweet or regular Sriracha sauce for kick Kenji Lopez coleslaw made with kewpie mayo Hawaiian rolls for buns Great hot or cold!!
Throwing a high energy party in the backyard, and by that I mean SMUD is replacing the power pole in our yard
We found Label on Shikoku in Masaki, they had one of the largest drift tracks and a fairly big 1/24 scale crawler course
RC Champ, there was a Tamiya mini 4wd competition going on when we visited. 1000 times cooler than pine wood derby, fuck you boyscouts. In fact nearly every shop we hit had a mini 4wd course ready to run.
We have spent no small part in this trip hitting every rc drift shop we could, Super Ragikon, RC Champ, Tam Tam Hobby, MST, Label… I wish we had shops like these, to this scale in the states, this was Super Ragikon
Some casual finds around Osaka, these little motorized scooter things are getting more stylish every time I’m back in Japan
Staying with the underground theme, we checked out the Ryugado caves near Kochi. More than a few times you had to nearly crawl, squeeze, and duck through narrow passages
Train in/out of the mine, stunning views of the river, and child labor courtesy of this cutie
There were so many of these dioramas depicting operations in the mine
Minetopia Besshi, a copper mine memorial and museum, the mines date back to the 17th century
There were whole sections dedicated to Moomin and Peanuts crews, as well as a huge quilt exhibit
Shikoku island is amazingly beautiful, but you gotta get through some sketchy roads to the interior for these alpine-esque views
Godzilla interception Awaji, zip line into Godzilla’s maw, Godzillla museum, Godzilla lunch, what’s not to like?!
Road trip time, we’re all having a great time. The soda name was a warning, flavor? Aggressively yes. It’s like the suicide soda in a can, fizzy regrets.
Some random car spotting while running around Osaka today chasing rc drift parts
