Summer is here in the Northern Coastal Mountains.
Thr fishing this year has been terrible for me, so here’s a photo of a tree that looks 5 ft in diameter at the base, if not larger. #bigtrees #temporaterainforest #wherearethesockeye
I’ve been waiting years to read Deadpool (2012). A long run that I was never able to find an enough TPB’s to justify collecting them. Happy to see marvel giving this run the epic collection treatment so I know I’ll be able to collect it from start to finish. #killingzombiepresidents
A few thoughts on the northern bracket: - Mr PG is barely noticeable anymore b/c he’s dwarfed by all the hotels and stuff around him, Houston’s fly rod is way more obvious and frankly more interesting than Mr. PG - the Nisga’a lava beds are the coolest, unexpected thing I come across in North BC.
Spent a couple hours on the river last night. River levels are very high. I had to wade out through water levels slightly above my belt line just to get to this spot. No bites, didn’t see a single fish caught during my time here yesterday.
Cat Patio update: - it rained throughout the day, so I had to put up a cover - Catio is framed, floor and outside door are installed. All it needs is a roof, some platforms/ramps, and to be enclosed in wire mesh. Feeling good about all the progress I made today!
I just went upstairs and instinctively looked for Josie sleeping on our bed. But she won’t be there anymore. So here’s a Josie for everyone instead.
Comic book reader here. I haven’t used MU b/c I prefer tangible physical books over subscriptions. I don’t trust any company not to pull/limit my access in the future. With that said, if you do start reading comics again, the new Uncanny X-Men written by Gail Simone is great.
The rain stopped long enough this evening for me to get out and do a little climbing with the new setup. 670 m of elevation. +40 km of road.
Last night I rode my bike high up onto the mountains on the horizon of the first photo. Made up to ~1,200 masl before the trail became too difficult to ride with my gravel bike.
Went to go check on the kittens. I would say our daughter did a good job of tiring them out.
These are our new kittens. I’ve been told both are boys. The grey cat is sleeping, the orange cat is biting my thumb.
This is a picture of our senior dog having perhaps the last good nap she will ever have b/c my wife and daughter are picking up kittens to bring home right now.
Going on a business trip today. At the very least, I’m going to look the part in the airports.
I’ve had a recent series of disappointing rides. No power in the legs. Progressively worse run of results. Dialed it back and rode a bit less last week, didn’t ride over the weekend. Back on the bike tonight. 39.3 km in just under 95 minutes. Just under 440 m elevation. 8 PR’s #feelingbetter
A weekend at the lake periodically includes some quality time with my slingshot.
70 km and 1,060 m of elevation over about 3 and a half hours. I felt bad from the jump and it turned out to be a pretty poor ride overall. Not gonna lie, it makes me question why I do this to myself. The nap afterwards was stellar. Gotta find the wins where you can.
Update: - Just over 2 hour ride - a steady 20 km climb until snow stopped me at 994 masl - locked up my brakes coming down on a gravel section b/c I’d forgotten there was a downed tree across the road and managed to save the bike and not crash Motivation level: remained low, but I did it anyway.
Sunday training ride. Cloudy, cool, windier than I like. The gravel portions are very dusty because we haven’t had much rain over the past few weeks. 3 hours, 17 minutes. 68 km distance. 974 m of climbing.
