Image is the front of the Penguin Modern Classics paperback Ulysses by James Joyce. The image shows James Joyce wearing a hat, blue & white dotted bow tie, and smoking a cigarette. Blue, white and orange are the dominant colours, with a light peach bachground. Almost a port-vorticism feel. The novel is structured to follow Homer's (?) The Odyssey, first composed in Homeric Greek around the 8th or 7th century BC. The Odyssey is regarded as one of the most significant works of the Western canon, and James Joyce's Ulysses is widely viewed as one of the, if not the, most important novels of the 20th century.
