Shout out to 24 Hour Party People Especially the Buzzcock’s Howard Devato "I definitely don't remember this happening” bit
I used to be a big gamer Then I had kids As 2 out of 3 kids leave home in the next month, now seems like a good time to see if that PS3 can do more than just look a little sad in the corner of the room
These are increasingly the thoughts I run through when planning a lesson I’m not entirely convinced that all screen time is bad screen time But I do think that it being the default for every lesson makes us lazier as teachers and puts a cap on the learning experience of the children
There are all sorts of reasons why I steer clear of Thick Of It quotes whilst working in a primary school
Both these boys are over 6 foot now and leave home this summer (one to supported living, the other to uni) This was 15 years ago but feels like yesterday I’m finding it hard to believe how quickly it’s all gone
Holy shit My wife’s cousin just won the #countdown series final in the highest scoring game in the history of the show
Had never properly listened to Nina Simone before Had no idea how much I was missing out What a voice. What an album
Catering for supporters of Spurs and West Ham with an impromptu 2 screen set up
The BlueSky timeline gods placing @twlldun.bsky.social and @leedon1982.bsky.social in perfect alignment
Quite the time to be a Spurs fan who married into a family of West Ham fans
Randomly flicking through the channels and came across an old episode of Later… with a very young me (with hair!) watching Morcheeba I think I’ve still got that red shirt somewhere
The whole film is a triumph Especially his acting opposite a young Helen Mirren
All this talk of the Pumpkins has also reminded me of this, the greatest opening paragraph in history
One final indignity for Michael to suffer before he succumbs* to the Black Death Profiteering! *or does he…
I regret to say that the power of the dried frog seemed more limited than Michael hoped
But Michael is a resilient chap and puts his wife’s untimely demise aside to focus on the finest medical cures of the 14th century
The plague continues to err plague poor Michael Just when it seems like things can’t get any worse… A coyote* attacks and kills his wife! *coyote reluctantly upgraded to historically accurate wolf
Imagine poor Michael coming down with these horrendous symptoms of the Black Death Imagine having a wife that offers you such little sympathy I feel it is only fair to point out at this point that my Mother in Law is called Diane…
Life is hard for Michael and his gravedigging chum Ian (nice choice of name daughter)
My daughter was set history homework to write an account of life in plague ridden England I may be biased but I think it is *quite* the work of historical fiction Behold the tale of Michael, a humble gravedigger whose life is about to take several strange turns
My school is having a dress as your hero day Black hat ✅ Black shirt ✅ Miniature Librarian stuffed in pocket ✅ Glove puppet turtle accessorised into Great A’Tuin✅ #GNUTerrryPratchett
