The Combatting Hate Act (Bill C-9) came into effect on July 18. More needs to be done in Canada to address hate-based violence. But this law isn’t the answer - far from it. Instead, this legislation brings in vague new offences around the display of symbols police deem to be linked to terrorism 1/
