Library and 1A advocate in Llano, Texas Censorship is bad. MLS/MS Little v. Llano press:
It’s not a good sign when a renowned con law professor and author calls your civil case “a bad news counterexample.” 🤦♀️😫 Great write up by @tmksyracuse.bsky.social
Jumping on a trampoline makes me feel simultaneously very old and very young. 🤗
Thank you @uabookbans.bsky.social and @librarypolicy.bsky.social for making it easy for me to contact my elected officials and urge them to VOTE NO ON HR 7661. You can do it too!
Thanks @everylibrary.bsky.social for making it easy for me to contact my elected officials and tell them to vote NO ON HR 7661. You can do it, too!
Bravo and THANK YOU, @expressnews.com Editorial Board for this condemnation! It is shameful to see this his happening in Texas, where our motto is “Friendship.” You’re right we’ve seen this before: librarians and teachers, does this ploy sound familiar? www.expressnews.com/opinion/edit...
Gosh, if only there was a whole profession and a process for just this scenario, instead of an overboard censorship law. Hmmmm, if only…. 🤦♀️ Aaaaaaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!! tennesseelookout.com/2026/06/10/t...
My county is preparing to vote to place a ten commandments monument on our courthouse lawn. I hope people speak up at the meeting on Monday. I did my part early.
Now that’s a great bookshelf. 🥰 Artwork by @maggietokudahall.bsky.social and so many books written by friends. What other recs would fill out my burgeoning collection?
🚨Texans: our SBOE has the lege’s boot on its neck, and our kids are paying the price for it. Call. Write. Vote. Repeat.
Great quote here from @redgoldsparks.bsky.social. Other great quotes here and mentions from @samhelmick.bsky.social, @authorsabb.bsky.social, and @penamerica.bsky.social in this piece from @theguardian.com. This is why we advocates do what we do. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
Great interview from @readersdigest.bsky.social with author Patricia McCormick about book banning. Includes this retelling of an absolutely bonkers discussion with a M4L member. www.rd.com/article/patr...
While these budget cuts are awful, there is a lesson to be learned here. It was LOUD COMMUNITY SUPPORT that prevented these budgetary decisions from eliminating librarian staffing decisions from the equation. Austin ISD librarians, students, and parents showed up and it worked. Kudos!
My kids wanted to make cakes from a Food Network cookbook that we checked out from the library. So far it looks like glazed poop. 😝 HA!
Look at these great findings from some of my favorite people at @txfreedomread.bsky.social and @everylibrary.bsky.social! www.txftrp.org/school_board...
Some great new polling results from the Texas Library Association. At a time when public discourse has questioned the relevance of libraries and the role of librarians, the data tells a very different story. Texans love our libraries!
Oh, it’s a great day when The Onion @theonion.com is in your mailbox! Finally, some REAL news. 😆
I received my new t-shirt from @aclutx.bsky.social this weekend. You can get your own at www.bonfire.com/store/aclu-o...
Yes! If your district is proposing giving money to this company, maybe offer up this free solution and save your district thousands of dollars.
This is the piece that got me. Books, sitting silently on shelves, are apparently different. Gutting. 💔
I got my sweet new merch from @aclu.org in the mail today. You can get your own here: shop.aclu.org
When it gets difficult to be me in the place and time I am, this panel from @katemessner.com’s History Smashers Women’s Right to Vote reminds me that I might actually be the right person in the right place at the right time. You might be, too.
And yet, despite the concerns that Mr. Wandler says he shares, he continues his grift, stealing data from @tasslyn.bsky.social to monetize censorship he supported at the #txlege You DO NOT share my concerns, sir.
Must read. EXCELLENT piece on the current legal state of affairs re: book censorship from @heykellyjensen.bsky.social and @sarahlamdan.bsky.social that ends with a plea from me for us all to fight like hell for our 1A rights vocally and at the ballot box. Kudos, y’all!
Do y’all remember that time we told the legislators that this would happen? I do. #txlege “SB13 would proscribe…any biography of our fellow Texan Lyndon B. Johnson necessarily contains anecdotes about his legendary colorful language and the body part he proudly referred to as Jumbo…”
Stuart Gibbs created some amazing games for the panelists today. Here’s @ellenoh.bsky.social trying to guess which ghost is an author.
