My little Arthur Beagle, my best boy, is getting so elderly. He ambled after a snowshoe hare yesterday and the hare played along for a bit. I think even she knows. He’s sunning himself on the deck this morning. Living in the moment. I should try to do same instead of dreading a future without him.

Took a tentative second step towards us potentially having a little willow farm. First step was learning to grow willow. Today I made my first basket!! Now we just have to clear the land.

I’m in Miami Beach on a job so I visited the Wolfsonian design museum and they have an entire floor dedicated to Harry Clarke’s Geneva Window!

In 1926, just five years after winning independence from the United Kingdom, the government of the Irish Free State commissioned world renowned artist Harry Clarke to create a stained-glass window for the International Labor Office in Geneva, Switzerland. For its content, Clarke focused on works of the Irish Literary Revival, a movement associated with Irish nationalism and a broader renewed interest in the country's
ancient past as a basis for an independent national identity.
Intended as Ireland's gift to the League of Nations and a vehicle to showcase a new, modern nation, the completed stained-glass, known as the Geneva Window, was condemned by the country's conservative government as too provocative. Clarke, unwilling to make changes and in rapidly failing health, died shortly before its official rejection. His jewel-like masterpiece endures, a testament to the exquisite and idiosyncratic complexity of Clarke's work and an entry point into understanding the cultural and political forces that shaped his world.

In my hometown, going to the library to do some printing. The library is housed in the former Mercy convent, designed by Pugin, a little Victorian Gothic gem in the Irish Midlands.

I am fixing up my old kitchen. The cupboards are 43 yo, they need to go home to the 80s and die. It has been a great kitchen, it has produced great food. The tiled floor is almost retro. I could put in boring countertop on the left and not retile. Or trendy new countertop and retile. Thoughts?

If I install this bland grey countertop on my new cupboards (cupboards are not pictured here but they’re white) could I get away with not retiling this kitchen?

This house is for sale on the island. You’re buying a great view into St Mary’s Bay. The house needs a complete renovation. It’s also extremely haunted. I spent one morning working there 20 years ago, and never went back. Two terrible deaths - years apart - happened here.

Someone got me this for Xmas and it has been so timely. Such a great book, really easy to read and there’s so many parallels between then and now. Between the Shah and 47. Intelligence agencies then and now. Highly recommend.
