They end up at the quarry.

Steve is alright with the quarry. It's one of the only places left in Hawkins that wasn't affected by the earthquake or used as a portal to a hell dimension, so it's not so bad of a spot, all things considered.

He parks on the dirt alongside the road and quits the engine, immediately letting in the sounds of rushing water. He cracks open the door to get some air in, but it's blazing hot outside, making him break out into a sweat faster. He pulls back in, grimacing at the wave of heat, to ask if Eddie wants to get out and head closer to the water, but he almost knocks into Eddie's forehead.

"Jesus, man," he breathes, his heart leaping into his throat at how close Eddie is. He does a quick once-over without really thinking: catching Eddie's eyes and lips. He sees how Eddie is leaning over the middle console, his hands jittery as they try to figure out where to rest. He blinks. "Did you take me out here to make out?"

Eddie straightens, the car moving under them with the force he puts into it. "Uh, maybe?"

Steve grins. A part of him wants to tease, or maybe suggest Lover's Lake or Skull Rock, but then again, neither of those places leave a great taste in his mouth after everything. Besides, he's made out with plenty of people parked alongside Lover's Lake or up against the stone of Skull Rock, but he's never kissed anyone at the quarry before.

"Well?" he prods, raising an eyebrow when Eddie's attention snaps back onto him. "What are you waiting for?"

As lifelong Democrats, we agree with Sen. Ted Cruz on virtually nothing. But Mr. Cruz was brave to decry antisemitism in the Republican Party. Mr.
Cruz also named a big name, calling Tucker Carlson
"the single most dangerous demagogue in this country." Too few Democrats have followed Mr.
Cruz's lead by calling out the rising antisemitism on the far left. That must change.

"You care about my boy?" Wayne asks, and it’s an innocent enough question, except for how he speaks with an undertone of real and true understanding of what he means by care. The bluntness sends a dual course of shock and fear down Steve's spine that Wayne spots quickly and eases immediately. "I ain't mean nothing by it other than what I said: You care about Eddie. Yes or no?"

"Yes, sir," Steve blurts, not giving himself time to get in his head about the answer, because no matter what people will think about him being friends with The Freak or a drug dealer or a queer, he still needs Eddie's only family to know that Eddie has someone who‘ll stick around him, by him, for him. "I care about him."

Wayne nods, taking the answer as easily as Steve gave it. "You take care of him and we ain't gonna have no problems, son."

It’s an extension—a payment in kind, maybe. Steve is the person who brought Wayne’s kid back to him, so maybe Wayne has a sense of duty; but Steve backtracks. That isn’t fair, not to Wayne.

Wayne is a good man who loves his nephew like his very own and who’ll give his thanks in the ways that he can.

So, Steve shoves down the uncomfortableness and says, firmly and without question, “I'll take care of him.”

Steve rolls his eyes and pushes her away.
"It was Jonathan," he says, waving his hand. "The blood bank nearby had to be shut down again because people kept trashing it. They won't be open for a while now. Settin' up those security gates over the doors and windows and stuff."

"And Jonathan couldn't ask his girlfriend because….?"

"She's back at Syracuse," Steve finishes, much to Robin's disappointment. "It's hard enough for vamps to get blood right now. He didn't need to be hungry while looking for his next meal. Now he'll be alright for a few days until he finds another blood source."

"Alright," Robin says slowly, looking at Steve in the mirror. She presses her hands onto his shoulders and leans down over the healing wound. "One more question: Why the hell did you let another vampire suck on your neck of all places before your shoot with Eddie?"
Steve frowns at Robin. He tries to read the scrutinizing expression on her face, but he can't exactly tell what she's worried about.

"What do you mean?" he finally asks, smacking her away from his neck. He swivels around in the makeup chair and stares up at her. "Why does it matter? We can cover it up. Besides, isn't the whole point that 'wolves are showing we don't care about being around vampires? I mean, what's more 'I don't care than a vamp's teeth marks in my neck?"

Robin looks at him like he's the most pathetic thing in the world. "You dumb, dumb man," she coos, patting him on the cheek and turning him back to face the mirror before he can retaliate. "Stay still while I try to save your neck-ha-from
Eddie fucking Munson."

Steve still doesn't get it.

Summary:
Dustin, Robin, and Nancy make it out. That's all that matters.
Steve isn't self-sacrificial, at least not intentionally, but it's no question that he'd get hose three out of literal hell efore himself. It only makes sense.
So now, he's stuck in the Upside Down with a half-dead nerd he barely knows.
A journey through Steve's relationships with himself and the most important people in his life: a lesbian, a know-it-all kid et al., his ex-girlfriend, a DM (whatever the hell that is), the DM's uncle, and everyone else who seems to have wormed their way into his life since 1983.
(Or, how getting trapped in Hell on Earth with Eddie "The Freak" Munson puts every other
relationship Steve has ever had into perspective.)

"You know I didn't really have a friend until Dustin?"

The question is soft, but the room is quiet enough that it's the loudest thing in the world. The most pathetic part of himself is on display, cut open right from his chest from underneath all those stupid scars he has.

"It's lame, I know, that my first real friend is a child," he says with a wry laugh, his misery muffled into the palms of his hands, "but it's true. Everyone's around me for obligation, or reputation-not that I really have that anymore. No one was really my friend, and the lamest part is that I didn't even realize that none of those people were my friends until Dustin. He was the first to talk to me, not at me. He asked me for advice and stuff, and actually listened to what I said, even if he didn't always go through with it. And I realized that having friends is supposed to be fun all the time, you know? Not just some of the time, because other times, they're too drunk or mooching off my parents' money or laughing too loud because they think that'll make me like them more.

"It was nice having somebody who stood up for me, even when I still didn't deserve it. The kids, a few years back, thought I was a douchebag, but Dustin would always say I wasn't when they called me that, even though I still sort of was. He always stood up for me because he was my friend. And when we got closer, he also called me out on my bullshit" —he stumbles over the word with a grimace-"because that's what you're supposed to do with friends, right?
Make sure no one's picking on them, but also make sure they're not fucking up? I've never had anyone like that before I met Dustin."

"They're very dependable ladies," Eddie says into Steve's collarbone. He wipes his wet face against Steve's chest. "I'm sorry you weren't able to patch it up with Wheeler."
Steve wants to laugh, but he can't. It's easy to be embarrassed by what he blurted out to Nancy in the RV and in the woods, but it doesn't make any of what he said less genuine.
"It's easy to love Nancy," he admits, a thin smile stretching over his lips, "but it's like Robin said: I hate being alone. Being around Nancy is easy, you know? Because I know her and I love her, but I don't think I love her in the same way anymore-back when we were dating. She's with Jonathan, and she made it clear that she never really felt the same about me. It's just harder to accept than to move on, I guess."
Eddie lets the confession settle between them. He pushes away from Steve's chest and finally looks up, his eyes red and wet from tears but his expression soft and wanting. He licks his lips, wetting the blood between the cracked skin, and swallows. "You wanna move on?"
There's hope in the question, and Steve aches.
They're dying and Eddie has hope in him. It's an enormous weight.

It's pretty sexy, at least Steve likes to think so. He likes watching a moan start crawling up Eddie's throat only for him to sink his canines into his lip hard enough to break skin.
But he also thinks he'll like whatever noise Eddie might make even if his lip isn't between his teeth all the time. He just likes hearing Eddie.
Eddie is quiet during sex.

A while has passed since they started seeing each other, and Eddie still hasn't made much of a noise other than a gasp or a sigh. So, Steve makes it a point to try and wring anything else out. He gets close sometimes. He'll press his fingers down in the right spot and Eddie will drop his jaw, but it's like he realizes what's happening and he snaps his mouth shut. He'll get the angle just right when he's flush against Eddie's ass and Eddie will breathe with a hitch, but just before he makes any sort of noise, he shoves his face into a pillow.

Eddie's a vocal guy, has been since Steve was aware of him all the way back in middle school. He sings and he narrates and he protests. His voice is a source of power, so it throws Steve for a loop when Eddie is more or less silent during sex.

Maybe he's doing something wrong. He likes to think that he's decent at drawing out pleasure enough to get it to come out in different ways: a whimper, a moan, a shout, an orgasm. But maybe it's different with a guy. Maybe it's different with Eddie.

Alex tries to look up, but his phone is stuck between his ear and his shoulder and he can't risk accidentally hanging up the call when he's been on hold for so long. So instead, he holds a finger up to Henry, ignoring his husband's exasperated sigh, and says, "No one has ever run themselves into the ground planning a kid's birthday party."

"You've always had a penchant towards making history." Henry walks over and holds the phone in his hand, pressing it to Alex's ear. "Do you want me to take the call? That way, you can finish the rest of your incredibly long list of tasks for a child's birthday party."

Alex rolls his shoulders, relieved to finally get rid of the crick in his neck. "Would you?"

"Of course, love," Henry mumbles, then kisses his cheek. "Now, go run to the store to buy thirty party hats and come back before it's time to pick Val up from school."

"Heard you packed up and left your wife today," House says. He feels Wilson's unimpressed stare before he sees it. "What? I thought we were stating the obvious."

A take on what happened between House and Wilson after 2x14 "Sex Kills" ended.

"I wanted to talk," Wilson lies, pouting into his Kung Pao chicken.

"You wanted to wax poetic, get me to feel bad for you, and put out." The last part is a joke, but strikes familiar and uncomfortable if Wilson's wide eyes and dusted cheeks have anything to say about it. "If you wanna experiment with someone, pay for a hooker, or a rent boy. I'm busy."

"Eating Chinese food?"

"Talking to an idiot."

Wilson doesn't drop it because he became immune to House some time between a minute and a decade ago. It must've been all that exposure to him.
